A memoir of grit and resilience, Stepping Stones traces the story of one man’s journey into adulthood, and the many stories that shaped who he would become.

Born into a large, Lebanese-American family in the steel belt of western Pennsylvania, Joe is regaled by tales of the “Old Country” from the aunts, uncles and grandparents who help raise him.

As he faces the challenges of his own American childhood—battling the lingering effects of polio, struggling against stringent expectations of parents, community and Church, chasing his dream to play football for University of Nebraska—Joe draws strength and guidance from the family who surrounds him and the generations who have come before.

A story entirely unique yet universal, told with humor and enduring love, Stepping Stones explores how our roots define us, even when we believe we have broken free.

RAMSEY CAMPBELL, PROBABLY, originally published by PS back in 2002 since which time the author has expanded some of the essays, added others and generally tinkered around with the running order . . . as is his wont. Thus the original 140,000-or-so words compiled from Ramsey s non-fiction of three decades have been considerably (and entertainingly) expanded to represent getting on for a full half-a-century of Campbelliana now well in excess of 150,000 words. The subjects range from the perils of authorship to the delights of amateur fiction and film, from drugs to nightmares, from the Highgate Vampire to the Dracula Society s marching song. Friends are remembered and so is Mary Whitehouse. A seminal study of schoolgirl spanking is brought up to date. Many thoughts on the history of horror fiction are included. And, at last, it is revealed why Harlan Ellison® is responsible. May the reader variously laugh, weep, ponder, disagree and turn uneasily in bed. Time for another taster boy, we really do spoil you folks!

Ramsey Campbell, Probably, by Ramsey Campbell

From Publishers Weekly Anything new from the pen of British horror master Campbell (The Long Lost, etc.) is cause for celebration. Drawing together essays, introductions, afterwords and reviews from diverse sources dating back to 1984, this book displays some of Campbell's rarely seen facets. "Fiedler on the Roof" stands as a withering response to an academic's blanket criticism of horror. Campbell is also in fine form defending good horror in "The Crime of Horror." He spares neither censors nor creators of mediocre work in such forays as "Turn Off" and "Floundering on the Bottom," but he's no less merciless in assessing his own failures ("Chasing the Unknown" and the introduction to his collection of early tales, Height of the Scream). The real surprise comes in discovering how funny Campbell can be. He admits that if he were not who he is he'd be a stand-up comedian, and this is borne out in such essays as "Fame!," "A School Visit" and the Biercian "Horror Writer's Lexicon." For those seeking something grimmer, "Near Madness" is as harrowing as (and its truth more upsetting than) any of Campbell's stories. "Strapped for Cash," an amusing piece on spanking films, could have been much shorter, though as a rule when the author does digress, he does so magnificently. A detailed bibliography will please scholarly fans. Campbell displays the wide erudition and insight that make his stories so memorable and, with its analyses of film, writing and life in general, this is a must-have for anyone interested in the creation of fiction.Copyright 2002 Reed Business Information, Inc.

US Army Paratroopers from the elite 173rd Airborne Brigade (SEPERATE) were the first US Army Combat Soldiers to enter South Vietnam in May 1965. Surviving in the jungles of The Central Highlands of II Corps not only involved enemy contact with the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong soldiers. Learning survival skills in the jungle environment was taxing both physically, and mentally, for one of the US Army's most highly decorated units, with more Medal of Honor recipients than any combat unit of similar size during The Vietnam War. "Contact Charlie" Company of the 173rd Airborne Brigade's 1st Battalion 503rd Airborne Infantry lived in the jungles of The Central Highlands for extended periods of time, surviving off Long Range Recon Patrol (LRRP) dehydrated meals, and C-rations. They depended on the Central Highlands triple canopy jungle streams for their water supply. The paratrooper's home was a foxhole and his supplies were carried on his back in a "rucksack". The paratroopers would stay in the Central Highlands mountainous jungles for several weeks before returning to the rear base camps for stand down and re-supplying for the next mission. The only way out of the jungle, and the paratrooper's assigned one-year tour of duty, were to be either killed-in-action, wounded-in-action, or to endure the mission as designated by the US Army Chain Of Command. Operations by paratroopers of "The Herd" are contained within this book and YouTube video links to Combat Operations in South Vietnam by The "Sky Soldiers" of The 173rd Airborne Brigade (SEPARATE), a stand alone and independent brigade of US Army paratroopers. The "Herd" paratrooper's were continuously "saddling-up" and were enemy team and "hawk" hunters on Search and Destroy missions in the largest two provinces, Kontum and Binh Dinh, of South Vietnam during 1965 to 1971. The paratroopers of The 173rd Airborne Brigade were considered to be US Army Commanding General William C. Westmoreland's "fire brigade". The "Sky Soldiers" were a quick reactionary force and operated on Search and Destroy missions in War Zone D, Dak To, and The Central Highlands, a strategic high ground that had to be held by American forces during The Vietnam War to prevent the domino effect and fall of South Vietnam to communist North Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh. The "Sky Soldier's" brotherhood and "esprit decor" continues today through various 173rd Airborne Brigade Associational chapters in the United States, Australia, and Italy. The younger "Sky Soldiers" of today have continued to prove themselves in recent combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The common spirit existing in the members of "The Herd" prevails through inspiring enthusiasm, devotion, and strong regard for the honor of the airborne groups and this reflects greatly on missions of freedom for their fellow Sky Soldiers, patriotism, and The United States of America and for all freedom loving Americans, and their allies. "Airborne, All The Way".

Did not participate in the available options guess I just prefer more of a standard approach. Anyway, the book was well done; best for the reader interested in learning what life in Vietnam was like for a combatant.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. uninteresting By Mike from New Jersey As a Vietnam veteran I was disappointed with this book due to repetition used to help fill pages. I noticed misspelled and missing words as if the book was never proof read. I lost interest and didn't finish it.

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. I just read Eddie's book and was very happy with it By Rick Bierman I just read Eddie's book and was very happy with it. I joined the company and the Headhunters at the same time Eddie did. George Vanderhoff was the first of the "old guys" to welcome me to the Headhunters. What a great guy. I only knew him for a couple of weeks before he was killed but I have thought about him many times over the years. Hill 975 was a bad place, I felt like we were a bunch of sitting ducks. We did much better when we were moving around and the NVA didn't know where we were going to pop up. Captain Blodgett was a great leader and he came up with some pretty good tricks. We were like a bunch of brothers, at times we would argue and bitch and moan about one thing or another, but when we were on a hump or the crap hit the fan, all the little stuff was forgotten and we worked very well as a team. I knew a lot of good men in Charlie Company and the Headhunter Platoon and Eddie has done a great job of telling their story.

Colonel George M. Chinn's (1902–1987) life story reads more like fiction than the biography of a Kentucky soldier. A smart and fun-loving character, Chinn attended Centre College and played on the famous "Praying Colonels" football team that won the 1921 national championship. After graduation, he returned to his home in Mercer County and partnered with munitions expert "Tunnel" Smith to dynamite a cliff. The resulting hole became Chinn's Cave House―a diner that also functioned as an underground gambling operation during Prohibition. He even served as Governor A. B. "Happy" Chandler's bodyguard before joining the Marine Corps in 1943.In Kentucky Maverick, Carlton Jackson details the life of a legendary and highly decorated Marine whose career spanned both world wars, the Korean War, and Vietnam. Chinn's service paired a love of history with a special kind of genius: he documented the history of military technology while designing innovative weapons such as the M-19 automatic grenade launcher, which is still used in the armed forces today. After leaving the Corps, Chinn leaned on his many connections to become the director of the Kentucky Historical Society.Carlton Jackson's entertaining biography weaves together outrageous tales of gunplay and politics while revealing Chinn's sense of humor, unbending will, and a sense of destiny that could only be fulfilled by a true twentieth-century Renaissance man.

Kentucky Maverick: The Life and Adventures of Colonel George M. Chinn, by Carlton Jackson

Review "Chinn exemplified the variegated expertise, even genius, of a twentieth-century Kentucky Renaissance manChinn's amazingly varied careers as football coach, Mercer County 'character,' political groupie, military adventurer, honored weapons inventor, and controversial public historian inform both a fascinating personal biography and a telling commentary on twentieth-century Kentucky.Chinn's public life is at once compelling, disquieting, and in many ways profound, much like the Commonwealth's history and culture during his years."―Russell Harris, retired senior associate editor of the Register of the Kentucky Historical Society

"Kentucky Maverick is well-designed, well-researched, and well-written. Jackson has developed a schema of portraying the "story" of Chinn's life against the backdrop of the 'maverick.'"―William Ellis, professor emeritus of history at Eastern Kentucky University

About the Author Carlton Jackson (1933–2014) was University Distinguished Professor at Western Kentucky University and the author of numerous books, including P. S. I Love You: The Story of the Singing Hilltoppers. His book Hattie: The Life of Hattie McDaniel was listed by the New York Times as one of the fifty most notable books of 1989.

Upon reaching the age of eighteen, Jane was taken from her school and sent to a specialized facility where young women are prepared for marriage. She knows that her future husband will demand her complete submission, but she cannot help blushing crimson at the thought of belonging so completely to a man she has not yet met, let alone being shared by three men each seeking to prove himself the most adept at mastering her. Under ordinary circumstances Sergeant Andrew Creston would not have the resources needed to marry, but his skill and courage in battle have won him the chance to compete for a bride. Over the course of several days, Andrew and two higher ranking officers will have the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to properly master a woman, and the man deemed to have dominated her most thoroughly will win the right to claim her as his wife. Jane’s defiance when ordered to pleasure Andrew on the first night of the competition earns her a painful, embarrassing spanking from the handsome soldier, yet her body’s response to his dominance is unmistakable and she is left quivering with desire. But with two other men also going all out to prove themselves best suited to claim her, it will take much more than just a bare-bottom spanking for Andrew to make her his forever. Publisher’s Note: The Sergeant’s Claim is an erotic novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes including a foursome, medical play, elements of BDSM, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Very good author. By S. Rose There were many aspects of this book that I really liked. I liked the main character. The futuristic scenario was adequately explained without a lot of bulk. There was some scenes that I found really erotic. However, unlike many readers of this type of fiction, I don't really like the harsher aspects of BDSM. I like spanking romance, not humiliation. The Hero didn't do that to the Heroine but it was part of the novel. The author was very good at showing the reader the erotic reactions of everything by the heroine. There is no full consent however in this book due to the circumstances of world the author is writing within. I rated this a 4 but I didn't love this book and I removed it from my archive as I will never read it again. Emily Tilton is one of my favorite authors. Her books are well written. This is no exception. She must have done a lot of her own editing as this book was from Blushing Books and the editing was very good. I bought this book because of the author's name. I have liked her works in the past and will buy more from her in the future (as long as this is not the first in a series.. I don't care to read more of this.)

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Not a Pleasant Read! By lovelife I could not finish this book. Had to skim numerous times to get through all the inner dialogue of the main character Jane and even with the sergant Andrew. The description of this book on Amazon does not begin to describe it. Andrew is in competition with two other military men, a general and a major and must gain the approval of the leadership of the school in order to take Jane home. This is a challenge to Andrew as the VP wants to make an example of Jane and wants her to be dominated cruelly by the man they choose. On the night when Jane is with the major alone, he places her in a dog cage where she has to urinate on herself and then she gets caned by him. Not erotic at all. Also how often must the author use the word, "bottom" in this story. I'd like a word count on it, as it was constantly repeated like an obsession!Purchased another book by this author on the same day and probably won't read it. Feel duped over the reviews. If you like the thought of 18 year old girls getting trained (strapped and pleasured) by their female teachers at their school and treated like mindless creatures by teachers and prospective male owners then you will enjoy this book.

Click, buy and enjoy the book but you may want to have a fan close by. Seriously! Another well written smoking hot read from E. T. but I have begun to expect nothing less from this author. I did find it interesting that the Lourcy family, who we have met in other books, plays a hand in this one that is set years in the future and I just get a kick out of noticing things like that! I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an Advanced Reader Copy.

A leading architect of the Italian Renaissance, Baldassarre Peruzzi (1481–1536) has, until now, been a little-known, enigmatic figure. A paucity of biographical documentation and a modest number of surviving buildings, coupled with an undeservedly critical assessment by Giorgio Vasari (1511–1574), have long cast Peruzzi’s career in shadow. With Becoming an Architect in Renaissance Italy, Ann C. Huppert taps into a known, but neglected resource—Peruzzi’s autograph drawings—and reveals the full scope and artistic mastery of Peruzzi’s work and its enduring influence.   Extraordinary not only in their beauty and design inventiveness, but also in the varied representational techniques and practical mathematics noted within them, Peruzzi’s drawings record an evolving artistic process. Reassessing his architectural masterworks, Huppert also explores lesser-known work: his studies of Roman antiquity, realized paintings and unrealized buildings, as well as engineering projects. Huppert shows that Peruzzi anticipated modern representational methods and scientific approaches in architecture, and pinpoints the moment when architecture began to emerge as a profession distinct from the other arts.

A fascinating exploration of early to mid-twentieth-century politics as seen through the eyes of a Roosevelt technocrat.History seems to repeat itself. With ongoing wars abroad and the collapse of financial institutions at home, Americans rely on President Barack Obama and Secretary of the Treasury Jacob Lew to bring about positive change. When the US stock market collapsed in 1928 and World War II broke out, the nation turned to Franklin D. Roosevelt and his Secretary of the Treasury, Henry Morgenthau, Jr., for leadership.Henry Morgenthau, Jr. explores the life of this native New Yorker. Born into a prominent Jewish family, Henry Morgenthau, Jr., became a controversial figure in politics. Yet, his contributions were integral to social, political, and economic milestones in American history, all while he grappled with his identity as an American Jew during the atrocities of WWII in Europe. This new biography offers a glimpse of yesterday and lessons for today.Author Herbert Levy offers an extensively researched life of this important American leader. From thorough research in the archives of Hyde Park to careful study of Morgenthau’s letters, Levy delivers an in-depth account of the fascinating life of this remarkable man. This book explores the complex and oftentimes frustrating world in which Morgenthau was forced to live and illuminates his odyssey as a Roosevelt technocrat.Skyhorse Publishing, along with our Arcade, Good Books, Sports Publishing, and Yucca imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of biographies, autobiographies, and memoirs. Our list includes biographies on well-known historical figures like Benjamin Franklin, Nelson Mandela, and Alexander Graham Bell, as well as villains from history, such as Heinrich Himmler, John Wayne Gacy, and O. J. Simpson. We have also published survivor stories of World War II, memoirs about overcoming adversity, first-hand tales of adventure, and much more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Does Social Darwinism Explain Everything? By Albert Alioto I wanted to read this book because I was curious about the man most identified with what may well have been the worst idea in American history: that permanently impoverishing the center of Europe after World War II, by rendering what was left of Germany into a pastoral state -- reminiscent of the Khmer Rouge's ultimate vision for Cambodia -- was a path to peace.Levy begins with an author's note: This book is an effort to summarize how Henry Morgenthau Jr., understood his role as a technocrat during the presidential administration of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and an attempt at defining Social Darwinism as the concept that most affected Morgenthau's life. The reader is warned, but that note did not begin to prepare me for the constant avalanche of repetition of the phrase, "In a Social Darwinist world,...." (I would be fascinated to know how many times that phrase occurs in the book, but it's beyond me to do the counting.) It amazes me that no editor counseled that that was seriously overdone. That is not to suggest that Social Darwinism may not have been a significant factor in the world in which Morgenthau lived and worked. But the overbearingly constant repetition gives the impression that Levy believes that it is the explanation for everything with which Morgenthau ever dealt. If Levy does not believe that, the book should have been better edited.Much of the first half of the book is told in the form of extensive quotations from Morgenthau's letters to his father. He did not strike me as a particularly inspired letter writer. That, too, seemed overdone and something that needed better editing. All of which said, I did learn more than I had ever known about Morgenthau and I finished the book with a better understanding of his postwar planfor Germany and what motivated him to support it. I cannot deny that the book answered the purpose I had in picking it up. But I am sure that better editing would not have interfered with that. Quite the contrary.

He liberally quotes from those letters in the book.Otherwise, much of the book is either a rehash from more scholarly biographies, or repetitive general views of the author. He shoe-horns his concepts of "social Darwinism" into almost every topic in most chapters. Prep school snobbery, 19th and 20th century extreme nationalism, racism, bigotry are all aspects of that phenomenon. Levy sees it everywhere. A final chapter on Morgenthau's reconstruction plan for defeated Germany is mostly Levy's views on the history of that period, with only minimal information about Morgenthau, the specifics of his plan, his efforts to sell it to the U.S. President and Congress, and the resulting soured relationship with President Truman. One wishes this book focused more on Henry Morgenthau, Jr, and not so much on Mr. Levy's theories and views.

The amazing story of one man’s obsession with an enigmatic and deadly reptile.Raymond Ditmars (1876–1942), the first curator of reptiles at New York’s famous Bronx Zoo, brought cold-blooded animals to public attention as never before. Through wildly successful books and movies, he inspired a generation of zoologists with his fascination for snakes, insects, and other misunderstood creatures.Ditmars was among the most celebrated naturalists in America. His reptile-collecting trips for the zoo spawned newspaper headlines across the world. Although a serpent lover, he was all too aware of the devastating effects of snakebites and was instrumental in the development of antivenom. His films and writings brought him fame, but he remained a devoted zoo employee, doing what he loved most: caring for animals.Bushmaster tells the story of this remarkable man and what became an obsession with the mysterious bushmaster of the South American rainforest. Measuring up to thirteen feet in length, this is the world’s largest viper, and its scientific name, Lachesis muta, translates as “silent fate.” Despite numerous expeditions to jungles from Honduras to Brazil, Ditmars could never capture a bushmaster for himself. Now, British author Dan Eatherley follows in Ditmars’s footsteps, revisiting his early haunts in the United States and South America. He attempts to do what Ditmars himself failed to achieve: to find a bushmaster in the wild. But eighty years later, will Dan have any more luck? Through the author’s own quest, Bushmaster reveals the life of a pioneer herpetologist, wildlife filmmaker, and zoo curator.

Bushmaster: Raymond Ditmars and the Hunt for the World's Largest Viper, by Dan Eatherley

Review "This is a fascinating book about a fascinating man. Snake people are special and the greatest of them, like Ditmars, are inspiring in their devotion to one of the most extraordinary forms of life on this planet. He describes his respect for snakes as having 'a religion all his own'—and nobody was more devout." —Desmond Morris, writer, artist and filmmaker"Eatherley offers an intriguing story that’s also packed with details on the history of the Bronx Zoo, New York, snakebite treatments, zoology, and the development of the idea that nature conservation is important." —Library Journal, starred review“Bushmaster is a skillful work that combines the author’s own journey of discovery while shadowing the footsteps of one of the world’s most celebrated herpetologists and early pioneers for the conservation of reptiles with a fascinating history of the early evolution and modernization of the Bronx Zoo and herpetology in general.” —Austin Stevens, herpetologist, author, and adventure wildlife filmmaker“Bushmaster proves that a passion for all that is wild is exceptionally contagious. Ditmars’s adventures provided the spark that fueled Eatherley to write this compelling book. That flame will ignite a powerful untamed spirit and desire in all who experience this work of art. —Casey Anderson, naturalist and wildlife filmmaker"There is perhaps no snake that so captures the imagination as the bushmaster, creature of myth, a real life dragon in serpent form. This quest to find one in the wild is a personal odyssey driven by fascination, and an intriguing read for any herpetologically minded wildlife fiends." —Steve Backshall, naturalist, writer, television presenter"The world's greatest snakehunter, his quest for a legendary serpent, and a modern Boy's Own adventure, three stories elegantly intertwined in Bushmaster. Beautifully written and meticulously researched, I'm sure like me you won't be able to put it down." —Nigel Marven, television presenter"A worth-while tribute. Widely read may it become and long may it stand to tell the story of this remarkable man." —Well-Read Naturalist“A considerable number of persons can trace their interest in herpetology to days reading the many books by Raymond L. Ditmars. Those of us who have worked with bushmasters feel fortunate to have had this wonderful opportunity. Dan Eatherley has captured their essence and the nexus with Ditmars—unearthing a plethora of new information about one of our famous and most productive herpetologists.” —James B. Murphy, research associate zoologist, Division of Amphibians & Reptiles, Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History“When I was a mere stripling my mother bought me Snakes of the World by Raymond L. Ditmars. My innate fascination for snakes soared to the skies with this book. But I never did realize what an incredible character Ditmars was. In Bushmaster Dan Eatherley brings to life this enigmatic hero to uncounted, obsessed herpers.” —Romulus Whitaker, herpetologist, conservationist, and filmmaker"Bushmaster is a wonderful read. Raymond Ditmars's quest for the elusive snake is chronicled in an easy-to-read format and is a story that many interested in snakes are familiar with. I highly recommend it for any naturalist library." —Mike Dee, former curator of the Los Angeles Zoo"I picked it up and read it from start to finish without putting it down. I have always admired Ditmars and appreciate all the research and hard work Eatherley put into this book and he blends nicely the natural history facts into the story." —Marc Morrone, animal breeder, author and television presenter

About the Author Dan Eatherley is a writer, filmmaker, and environmental consultant. He has made natural history documentaries for the BBC, National Geographic, and the Discovery Channel, and worked as an assistant producer on two BBC series hosted by David Attenborough. By chondroman I have read all of Ditmar's books so there wasn't to much new information for me in this book. However there was enough new information in it that I was glad I bought the book.It is very interesting and about a very great man whom I have admired since childhood. If you are interested in snakes I think you will find this a good book to buy.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great read!!! By Kate Conway If you're a fan of nonfiction adventure, this book is for you. Very engaging and informative for those interested in snakes but lacking a scientific background, clearly very well researched. I learned a lot and loved every minute of it!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Fascinating! By C. Kluge I just finished Dan Eatherley's fascinating telling of the life of the founder of the Bronx Zoo's Reptile House, the self-educated Raymond Ditmars. Starting with snakes found in New York City's central park in 1880's, Mr. Ditmars' passion for snakes (particularly venomous ones) made he (and many of his deadly objects of interest) famous with the general public. The Author attempts to retrace Mr. Ditmar's snake-hunting path... from the central park rock outcroppings that still host non-venomous serpents, to the rocky hills surrounding the New York City Metropolitan area, and, ultimately, to the tropical environs of the "Big Daddy" of deadly serpents, the Bushmaster. The writing is totally engaging, at times funny, at times frightening.

Warning: This audiobook contains police and court transcripts and descriptions of graphic sexual violence contained in videotapes made by the perpetrators.

Paul Bernado and Karla Homolka were so perfectly iconic as a newlywed couple that they were dubbed "Ken and Barbie". But their marriage had a dark side involving sex, death, and videotape. The "perfect couple" first raped and murdered Karla's little sister then kidnapped teenage schoolgirls whom they enslaved, raped, tortured, and killed while gleefully recording themselves on video doing it.

Vronsky will take you on the journey from the Scarborough Rapist (Bernardo) to Bordelais (Homolka's current last name) and her return to Canada in October 2014 from the island of Guadeloupe, where she lived for several years.

This is the third audiobook in the Crimes Canada: True Crimes That Shocked the Nation collection.

Well written & expertly told this book is remarkable By Kat McCarthy Blown away and extremely impressed with this account of the case that is no doubt one of the most notorious crimes in Canada. It instantly comes to everyone's mind when asked what the most infamous crime in our country was. I've read a lot about this case over the years, however, what I read before was nothing like this. Well written and expertly conveyed, this book is simply remarkable. As a fan of true crime, you will not be disappointed. Vronsky is a master of his craft and a first rate author. The transcribed videos of these two together was truly the stuff of nightmares. I did in fact have a fitful nights sleep after reading it. The extent of Paul Bernardo's depravity completely blew me away. I mean we all have a general idea of how sexually deviant a rapist is by the nature of their crime, however the insight we get from the details on these videos shows a level of degeneracy that shocked me to the core. And Homolka? well I'm still a bit torn of what to make of her. Ruthless? Undoubtedly. Cold-blooded? You bet. However was she as bad as Bernardo? I may not be too popular saying this but I don't think she's quite as sick as he is. Feel free to disagree with me but I don't think she would have done those things on her own. With what I've read so far about this case, she was led by him and his deviant sexual needs, and agreed to them because of her ruthless nature to do whatever it took to get what she wanted. And she wanted a picture-perfect life that she thought Paul could give her. But who know really.Highly recommend this one to all my fellow fans of True Crime.

A must read for all true crime readers. Peter Vronsky did a great job telling the story of Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka (the Ken and Barbie Killers). Explicit language and graphic details but that is the only way to truly tell the story of these two monsters. Hard to put down once you start reading this. Very horrific crimes by 2 people that seem like they could have had a good life but instead chose to terrorize, torture and kill young women and videotape their cruel crimes against this innocent young women including her own sister. This is the third book in the Series Crimes Canada. 1 book released every month in this 24 book series. Great reads and horrific crimes can't wait to read them all.

These are the memoirs of Elisabeth Capone Forti Del-Paggio, a courageous and inspiring woman whose strong faith gave her the strength to endure all trials in her life. Her heartwarming stories will bring you peace, comfort and hope. Elisabeth “Vincenzina” Capone was born in the mountain town of Bisenti, Italy, in 1932, during a time of deteriorating economies across the world. Her deeply religious family worked very hard on their farm to survive during these times. It was also the year that Benito Mussolini was voted in as prime minister to Italy and one year after the radical Nazi party headed by Hitler came into power. The brutal realities of war that followed and the increasingly hazardous situation in Italy did not permeate the mountains towns of Abruzzo until 1943 when the US Allies landed in Sicily and made their way across the mainland. Her family survived extremely treacherous times. At the age of 17, she entered the L’Instituto Maestre Pie Dell’Addolorata Convent in Rimini to pursue her dream of becoming a nun. This dream would never be realized; instead, she left the hills of Abruzzo to emigrate to America in 1955. She and her husband eventually moved their family of six children to Arizona in 1974. This is the story of her life long joys and sorrows and how her strong faith and trust in God got her through it all.

A true story of one woman's faith-filled journey and the paths where it has led her. Discerning God's will by listening vs. allowing one's personal desires to guide us! Congratulations Elisabeth Capone on your journey!

Includes The First World War On The Western Front 1914-1915 Illustrations Pack with 101 maps, plans, and photos. An exceptional and vivid account of the opening battles of the First World War with the B.E.F.. Captain Hyndson was with the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment during the retreat from Mons until the First Battle of Ypres during which he was wounded and invalided back to Blighty. In recognition of his bravery he was awarded the Military Medal in 1915. “As there has as yet been published no connected account of the first phase of the Great War from a Regimental Officer’s point of view, I have been persuaded to put into book form the diary which I began on the first day of mobilization and kept up until I was invalided home from the French Front in 1915. As far as I am aware, there are only three or four platoon and company commanders still living who went through the Battle of, and Retreat from, Mons, as well as the Battles of the Marne, the Aisne and Ypres. This fact has emboldened me to add one more book to the already enormous bulk of war literature. It is also my desire to place on record the wonderful devotion to duty and the sterling fighting qualities of the men of Lancashire Nulli Secundus.”- The Author.
