A Must Read By Amazon Customer "The Right Amount of Sunshine:...Cultivating Little Girls into Young Ladies" is a must read, especially if you have daughters or impact the lives of girls in any way be it family member, guardian, mentor, teacher, etc. The way Brenda's Child includes excerpts from her own diary from when she was a teenager is what really makes this book so good because you see situations from the eyes of an adolescent then you see a way to handle the situation from an adult perspective. I strongly recommend this book!

My daughteer and I read it and were able to have discussions about things I didn't even know she had questions about. She was able to relate to the situations and we found ways for her to handle peer pressure. Her self esteem has never been an issue but she's even more confident from reading this book. An excellent guide for parents who don't know how to start some of those uncomfortable conversations.

As I entered my senior years, I began to feel the urgency of time. While watching my four grandchildren grow through the years, I began to ponder their total lack of knowledge regarding another time in society. I felt it to be my responsibility to bring them back in time to the 1940's and 1950's. My childhood experiences while growing up in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, NY (1940's-1950's) with my large Sicilian family is the foundation of the memoir. The story opens with my birth in a cold water flat in Bushwick one year after the end of World War II and continues on to the beginning years of the new millennium when the four of them were born. They were introduced to all their ancestors along with their distinct personalities and physical appearances. The title of the memoir is "Beneficiaries of my Soul." I felt the title to be appropriate because as the beneficiaries of my monetary assets, they are also the beneficiaries of my life experiences. At the end of the memoir I provide documentation beginning with their great-great grandparents D.O.B's., towns in Sicily where they were born and migrated from, and continue the documentation from one generation to the next ending with their births.

Every word of this book I can relate to because of stories from Joann and knowing her family. I feel, to pick up a book such as this one and read it brings you back to the era of innocence and "La Familia" and that's where we need to go again. It is a "feel good" story from beginning to end and done for the purpose of making her beautiful grandchildren have a piece of "their heritage" written by their Grandmother. Hopes she writes another and I'm so proud of her!

This powerful book tells the story of one teacher's odyssey to understand the inner world of immigrant children, and to create a learning environment that is responsive to these students' feelings and their needs. Featuring the voices and artwork of many immigrant children, this text portrays the immigrant experience of uprooting, culture shock, and adjustment to a new world, and then describes cultural, academic, and psychological interventions that facilitate learning as immigrant students make the transition to a new language and culture.Particularly relevant for courses dealing with multicultural and bilingual education, foundations of education, and literacy curriculum and instruction, this text is essential reading for all teachers who will -- or currently do -- work in today's school environment.

Review

Igoa brings us to the understanding that academic achievement can not be divorced from the child's affective dimensions. Her results are often remarkable, sometimes disappointing. But even the disappointments move us closer to understanding these children, and their world.—Multicultural Education

Readers who are concerned about the education of immigrant children in today's schools will find this book very inspiring.—Multicultural Perspectives

Unique in the recent North American literature on bilingual/multicultural education....Original and powerful....The voice and struggles of the author are expressed eloquently and speak directly to the many thousands of teachers who are struggling to adjust to a radically new demographic reality. For mainstream teachers who are looking for ideas and inspiration the book has some very important messages.—Jim CumminsThe Ontario Institute for Studies in Education

Highly readable, engaging, and free of educational jargon....Absolutely essential for today's teachers....I kept thinking as I was reading how lucky her students were, and how I would want all immigrant children to have Cristina Igoa as their teacher.—Sonia NietoUniversity of Massachusetts Amherst

Presents the immigrant children's stories in an easily readable and understandable fashion....Has a lot to offer both new and veteran teachers who are faced with increasing diversity in our schools.—Henry T. TruebaUniversity of Wisconsin/Madison

An insightful, and useful, must-read for any and all teacher By A Customer Cristina Igoa helps us to understand the inner world that immigrant children in the United States often conceal and suppress while acculturating/assimilating to our society. This book is enjoyable and insightful as well as useful for teachers in our ever-changing, diverse schools. As a teacher it will help you to better understand and serve our immigrant youth. I would recommend this book for all who care about education, but also for anyone living in a multi-cultural society. It enlightened and touched me and has become unlimitedly useful reading.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Read for Any Educator By Nana HQ The American educational system is changing through the introduction of immigrant children. These children need teachers and other adults in their lives to stop and hear their voices. Igoa allows these voices to speak loudly to her audience.Visiting with the children later in their lives helps to confirm Igoa's assumptions and educational practice. Stop and listen to their voices as you are taken into the children's frustrations, joys, and struggles as they attempt acculturation.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Everyone learns together By sherry The Inner World of an Immigrant Child is all about experience - of the students, teachers, classmates, Administration, reader, and author. The narrative form allows the reader to easily understand and follow both Igoa and the students from the beginning of their journey to four years later, when the students were older and able to share their reflections about earlier experiences. I am left with two enlightening and important reminders after reading and thinking about the book: (1) to always remain aware that the academic achievement of immigrant children cannot be separated from their affective dimensions and; (2) they must have a sense of personal power while learning. The book shares the author's discovery that empowerment through expression is what allowed the students to begin learning. The book engages the reader in a process of observation, personal reflection, and then inquiry into their own practices. I will probably read the book multiple times over the coming years as my students change and move on, and will discover something new to consider each time. It is simply a great book.

Many Beaucoup Magics is based on a true story. Far from your normal war story, it takes place on the Cambodian Border in the south central highlands of Viet Nam in the summer of 1968. It’s as if Holden Caufield from The Catcher In The Rye has gone to war haunted by a recurring bad dream about a specific day only to fall in love with the sweet, innocent almost stone-age tribal people he leads on jungle combat operations. These mountain men, considered “savages” by the Vietnamese have no alphabet or written history, yet they began to unlock the mystery of his dream as the critical day draws near. This may be one of the most unusual stories set on a war stage ever told. Come into the highlands but keep a small heart and stay close to the trail….

8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. A Gripping and Intelligent Story By Lawrence Woodlock This is a story that merits a large readership for at least two reasons in addition to the remarkable journey the author invites his readers to share.First, Many Beaucoup Magics calls attention to a little-known corner of the Vietnam War where American Special Forces teams moved in with tribal peoples ("Montagnards" or "Yards") in the mountainous border areas of Vietnam, leading them against North Vietnamese Army units marching into South Vietnam from Laos and Cambodia. Most Americans fortunate enough to have had such a job enjoyed unforgettable friendships with people whom, in late 1970, we abandoned. A brief overview of that tragedy was recently published online in Slate Magazine under the title "The Snake-Eaters and the Yards," which readers can Google and read in order to learn the broader background of Tom Garvey's story.Second, what unfolds within this exotic setting is a classic tale of a young adult forced into conflict with childhood certainties. It is the tale of a youthful "everyman" who grew up on the stories of WW II veterans. Craving such an experience for himself, he went to Vietnam (brilliantly sketched in richly-drawn detail) where he comes to realize that "war stories" - like "war movies" - leave out many things that nobody wants to know about. This is, in the end, an exceptionally humane and gripping account which will keep many readers up late when the protagonist sets out with another American and 72 Yards towards an encounter in which they will certainly need, as the Yards would say, "many beaucoup magics."I served on an A-Team north of the one described in this story, and can attest that the author describes the people and environment accurately. His description of the Air Force pilot and Army helicopter crews is also spot on - those guys never let us down, regardless of weather or threat level. Because Special Forces was always a relatively small outfit, this story came into my hands many years ago. By way of disclaimer, I tried to help get it published back then, only to learn it was too long for a short story, and too short for a novel. Amazon's development of the Kindle solved that problem. I more recently played a small role in helping edit the story for publication.I have always loved this story for the reasons given above, and expect that a larger public will, like me, also thoroughly enjoy the author's wry descriptions of human folly and, even more, his way of capturing "The Better Angels of our Nature" which, in fact, is the real subject of this memorable story.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Read the story. By Roy E. Hughes On a warm fall Saturday afternoon in 1966, at the Infantry Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia, Candidate Tom Garvey stood before members of his company in the shade of the barracks and talked about Vietnam. Tom described the country's history, beginning as a part of China and coming under French domination from the mid-19th Century until the French defeat at Dien Bien Phu in 1954. He told of how the country had been divided into two and how, under the leadership of Ho Chi Minh, the communist north had been attempting to undermine the south.Although most of Tom's classmates knew little of this history of Vietnam, most of them would be fighting there within a year. At this time, however, Tom and the rest of the company were on the outside looking in.Many Beaucoup Magics is an engrossing story about a young man's passage from patriotic idealism to harrowing realism as he serves as a US Special Forces officer in the south Central Highlands of Vietnam near the Cambodian border. The effects of jungle isolation, the relationship he develops with the native Montagnards he fights with, and the mystical premonition the character carries all come together to create a mesmerizing story of war. After nearly half a century Tom Garvey is telling a story about Vietnam from the inside looking out.Tom's story has the flavor of some of the best work that I've read about the Vietnam War; Phillip Caputo's A Rumor of War, Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried, and Karl Marlantes's Matterhorn. Tom Garvey is in good company.Read the story.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Mystical Vietnam By Jim Morris It’s not often that one gets a chance to review a book the subject of which he had a hand in the making. In the fall of 1967 I was duty officer in the headquarters of “C” Company, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Pleiku, RVN. Bored, I wandered in the Ops shop and started playing with maps. I placed a transparent overlay of our camp operational areas over the 1/250,000 map of our territory, then placed the overlay of enemy infiltration routes over that. Most camps were located cheek by jowl along the border, but one of the older camps had been left in place further inland, and there was no camp along the border in that area. The infiltration routes ran along the border, avoiding the camps along it, and poured into Vietnam in that notch, flowing around the set back camp.Just then LTC Ludwig Faistenhammer, jr., our commander, came in and asked, “What the hell are you doing?’ I pointed to the map and the overlays, and said, “Sir, the next camp you put in, that’s where it should go.”The events of this novel are set in that camp.Later Colonel Faistenhammer told me it had been put there for the reasons I cited, but I’m pretty sure that the decision to do so preceded my recommendation.Nonetheless, I am thrilled to discover what a fine novel tells its story.Tom Garvey, the author, commanded that camp. He came in country about two months before I left, and I know that country, and those Montagnard people, and love both. So does he, and it shows.A couple of weeks before he shipped out for Vietnam John McManus, the protagonist of the novel, obviously based on Garvey, was in a bookstore with a girlfriend, idly thumbing through Sidney Omarr’s predictions for 1968. Opening a page at random he found a prediction of momentous and dangerous events on November 17th. He quickly put the book up and tried to put the prediction out of his mind.A few months later he found himself commanding the camp at the intersection of every bleeding infiltration route on the Ho Chi Minh trail. A captured NVA colonel revealed that the North Vietnamese intended to wipe out a border camp and kill every American in it, as a propaganda coup to cement the effect of their supposed “victory” in the Tet Offensive of 1968. Parenthetically I note that I fought in that battle and was all over the northern part of South Vietnam in its wake, talking to others who had done so. I tell you definitively that the Tet Offensive of 1968 was one of the most lopsided victories in American military history. When our “free” press reported the opposite to be true I realized we had lost the war, that we had no stomach for victory. That camp, Tieu Atar, was the leading contender for that attack. And it was woefully defended, as the area was so hot that the engineers who had done the heavy work on its construction bailed before it was done.McManus had no faith in astrology or dreams, but the Montagnards were heavy into dreams, and if a precog dream said not to do something, they didn’t do it. One of them dreamed that going on patrol at that time, the 16th of November, would be a hazardous venture. But McManus had a dream of his own, which he revealed at that time in the pidgin in which we spoke to the Montagnards, that this would be a glorious undertaking, that “many beaucoup magics” protected them.I’m not going to spoil the ending by telling you what happened. But I will tell you that this is one of the finest novels of the Vietnam War, that it’s author has every right to be proud, and every reader should prepare himself for a transcendent experience.

Having grown up in wealth all her life, Theodocia turned to the gods to become an initiate choosing to forsake things of the world. Material gain like power, money and status were never ambitions she sought in life. So when Theodocia is picked by the goddess Artemis to be the next High Priestess to take care of the young princess Phoibe, she is scared but ready. Only problem she has two secrets and one is named Niko. The two have a relationship that shouldn't work but their chemistry is undeniable, Theodocia wishes Niko would understand her calling as much as she understands his need to become an Olympian. Overall, wow hot couple alert. This story was a bit steamier than the others because Theodocia and Niko are just hot for each other. I'm just sad their lives seem to be going in two different directions. Theodocia is a strong female and I'm excited to see how she'll cope with the politics involving her new position as High Priestess and taking care of Phoibe.------Read more of my reviews at: http://heyitwasfree.blogspot.com/------

I wish I could have said the same about Niko.Theo has been dreading telling Niko about the task the Goddess has requested of her, especially given how quickly she must move. Whether or not he would go with her now that he may have a chance at more money and sponsorship was already an unknown, and she had yet to tell him she was pregnant. When he learns of the pregnancy, Theo has to make the difficult choice to move forward with her destiny without Niko. Niko doesn't want to be a father, and Theo, although knowing it won't be easy will not give up her child. And things just don't get easier. Once in New York, she meets Phoibe and realizes that she is all that stands between the princess and the guardians that abuse her.I loved how they bonded immediately. Each recognizing the need they had for the other. Of course, as is typical, the only downside is that this is a short, fast read and I want more of the story.

With this e-book, we explore into details, the escalation of poaching and its effects towards the current surviving species explaining using the current true facts of details based on the approved reports and updated records. The cry of Elephants captures the tears of the animals, sweat and efforts of the rangers, challenges and constrains they go through saving this animals. Poaching of African elephants for ivory is a major concern throughout Africa. It acts as an immediate threat responsible for the decline of African elephants at alarming rates across many African range countries. Poaching here is defined as illegal killing of elephants for ivory but also for meat. Elephant poaching occurs at an alarming rate as a result of high demand for illegal ivory in consuming nations of Asia, particularly China and Thailand. Rising in poaching has been attributed by the increased market demand, political instability, armed militias and criminals. This Act (poaching) is done through evolved mechanisms from old mechanism to the new and sophisticated modern mechanisms. Poaching has an effect on the population structure of elephants. Elephants are known to have complex social structures. Poachers target adult animals with the largest tusks, i.e. old bulls and matriarch for bigger profits, with important consequences for females and males resulting to breakdown of social structures among the surviving members of elephant societies. Females suffer a lot as a result of a loss of their social partners thus causing reduction of their fitness. However, for the male: poaching seems to reduce the age of first reproduction and lead to increased reproductive skew. As results their genetic diversity is lost from natural populations. Resistance Army, are now using elephant poaching as a means to sustain itself. While their leader’s orders their fighters to bring them elephant tusks. They trade in tusks for much needed resources such as food, weapons and ammunition, and other supplies. One shocking and most amazing thing is the presence of some open market within the Africa countries. By 2012, Ivory can be found openly on display in markets and shops in many African cities, such as Khartoum, Kinshasa, Lagos, and Luanda, as well as in certain Asian cities. Most of these markets operate with impunity due to lack of law enforcement action, and often in blatant disregard of national legislation prohibiting trade in illegal ivory. These markets are now reaching their target consumers more directly, given the increasing numbers of Chinese citizens living or working in Africa, whether on short term contracts for infrastructure projects and resource extraction or as long term residents who frequently travel between Africa and Asia. Consumer demand for illegal ivory and the prevalence of unregulated or insufficiently supervised markets open up opportunities for profit by transnational criminal networks.

Among the many Americans who fought to liberate Europe in 1944, some arrived on the battlefield with no combat experience while others were already veterans of the North African and Italian campaigns. This book traces the career of fifty soldiers, who, during the conflict held a variety of positions: shock troops, bomber pilot, quartermaster aboard a destroyer or chaplain in a motorized cavalry unit. Several nurses and a telephone operator are included and demonstrate the commitment of the female staff. A short genealogical study precedes each story, allowing the reader to discover the origins and family background of each personnel. A study of official records as well as archival documents kept by the soldier helps trace his military career from draft to theater. The author offers additional perspective through historical newspapers and walking units, providing valuable information on the progress of the fighting that would lead to victory and homecoming for the luckiest. At a time when many veterans of World War II are quickly diminishing, it is important to treasure these moving testimonies of a painful past.

Henri-Paul Enjames continues his excellent research By Chap15 If you have Henri-Paul Enjames GI Collector’s Guide VOL 1 & VOL 2, then you must get GI Stories 1942-1945. GI Stories is broken into two sections. The Mediterranean Theater (North Africa & Italy) and the European Theater. Each section is then divided into historical segments (campaigns, operations, geographic locations). Enjames then provides amazing stories of human individuals. Men and women from each service and from many different branches are portrayed with factual data, historical photos, and color photos of their military and personal items. What Henri-Paul did was to put a real person and personality into the artifacts we collect. Therefore this book helps historians, collectors and the novice to transcend time and connect with those who fought during WWII.

In my days as a doorman, I have seen many revealing things such as romance, adultery, deception, betrayal, decadent and deviant behavior, hilarious and bizarre incidents as well as praiseworthy deeds, self-sacrifice, and love. The accounts contained in this book are based on true events that I witnessed firsthand as a doorman on the Upper East Side. For thirty years, I bore witness to how a building became a microcosm of human experience. As a doorman and an English teacher, I found myself in a singular and best position to write this piece. So, it is with great felicity that I give you Doorman Diaries: Upper East Side Manhattan.

A young man from the Bronx, becoming bored with school and life in the city, begins thinking of entering the military. He ends up in a famous battle, but not before facing many growing pains and experiences. An adventurer at heart, he planned to join the Navy’s elite Underwater Demolition Team (UDT) , then is challenged by a friend saying that the Marines is more of an elite military organization. Finding that the Marine Corps is an elite branch of the Navy, and also had Reconnaissance Units that did all and more than the Navy’s UDT, he decides to join the Marines and get into a Recon Unit. However, it was not as easy as he thought. He drops out of high school, and attempts to enlist in the Marine Corps, just after his 17th birthday. He then finds out doing that created a problem from the start. His arrogant nature clashes with an interviewing officer and his plans to enter the Corps are delayed. However, encouraged by his recruiting officer, some months later he tries again, and is accepted in the Marine Corps, in March of 1963. This book describes in detail his journey through Marine Corps boot camp in Parris Island SC, and summarizes a few weeks of Guard Duty, and the month of the basic Infantry Training all Marines must go through before going to their first permanent duty station. After the training, his plan to become part of a Recon Unit does not come as expected, and he finds himself in a regular rifle company.

At 97 James J. Owens thought he would take one last trip to pay his respects to fallen comrades. However fate had other plans. His return trip to the planet of Hades in the Death Gates System was to be his final farewell. At ninety seven, his doctors had told him his chances of surviving the trip were small. This did not deter him in the slightest. It would be his last great adventure. This was supposed to be a trip to say goodbye to the men he had served with, under, and finally over as a Death Dealer. The men in those Imperial Black Uniforms. The Death Dealers have been the most feared military unit of the last four hundred and fifty years of the human Space Empire. Men trained in every form of combat known to man and alien. Units whose very names strike terror into the hearts of those they face. Names like Grim Rippers, Hells Lost Legion, and the Screaming Eagles. If it had not been for the Emperor Nicolai and an invasion by the Gelf Union four hundred and fifty years ago the Death Dealers may have been nothing more than a footnote in history. A company of Death Dealers were on Fair Cry Seven when they attacked. The Gelf’s killed every last human military unit that faced off against them. All but one was defeated within the first two days of the invasion. That one lone unit was the Death Dealer Company. From that war onwards, the Death Dealers have fought in every war on every planet from the time of their conception. Their battles have become legendary. Battlefields with names like Forty Acers where the Death Dealers lost one man for every enemy soldier they sent to meet their maker. Bloody Ridge on Colfax Eight where one company of Death Dealers in Armored Power Suits held off four regiments of Horbathian Tanks for three days before being relieved. On all of these planets and many more their battle cry of ‘Death is dealt by our hands’ has been heard. It was this battle cry that earned them their name. A name given to them by the very enemy they first faced off against. It was these stories that drew James as a young man to undergo the painful process of having the Death Dealers greatest asset installed in his body. The artificial intelligence computer known as a Death Dealer AI. As a young man from a poor planet James dreamed of wearing the Imperial Black Uniform of the Death Dealers. He never knew that he would become one of the most feared of Death Dealers, the man they themselves would call Death. It would be his drive to be the best of the best that would propel him far beyond his humble origins to being a First High Lord and personal Friend of the Emperor. However that is now all in his past. Now well past his prime, all James wants to do is travel to Hades and the Death Gates system to say goodbye and die a peaceful death. The old Death Dealer did not know that deep within him lying dormant was an old friend just waiting a signal to reawaken. An wakening that would begin not only a second chance in life, but what would become his greatest, and most rewarding adventure. He will face off against assassins, rogue military units, hostile planetary governments, and an all-out revolt against the Empire he swore to protect. All of these things are nothing compared to his greatest challenge. No that pleasure belongs to having to deal with not one but two very different Artificial Intelligence computers in his head. One is the original Death Dealer AI that all Death Dealers have, this was Dee De a Mark one Omega/ Assault class Death Dealer AI with a hidden secret. One that will lead to James’s greatest adventure and second chance in life. They say Death Dealers never retreat and never surrender. Their battle cry has been heard on thousands of worlds for over four hundred years. Can one of the most respected and feared of them, the man they called Death walk away? Or will the granddaughter he never had, rise up to claim the name of Death’s own Daughter and do it as the biggest girly girl in all of the Empire?

It was also interesting about the details regarding clothing and mannerisms that the author introduced. And of course all of us BattleTech fans read about some of our favorite mechs popping up. The only distractions were the typos or wrong words that occurred. Those mainly appeared in the last half of the book. I'm picking up book two since it's already out.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great story, writing style of Robert Heinlein (really!) By Amazon Customer This author has captured the interpersonal communication and plot flow that Robert Heinlein at his peak (Moon is a harsh Mistress through Time enough for Love) better than anyone I have ever read.Since to me Heinlein was one of the best at this, it is no small feat.I have read a ton of reviews of books that have story arc's comparable to “Space Cadet” or “Starship Troopers” that have proclaimed “The new Heinlein”, and none of them have measured up, even if the book is better as a straight story saying a book like Space cadet(written in 1949 for preteens to inspire them to go into aerospace) or Starship Troopers(written as a alternate fix for broken democracy where people with no risk or responsibility ends up sending others off to die) is comparable is silly.Especially when they don't have the plot and communication flow of the later books that made them so good. The writing is like Heinleins and it is huge on personal responsibility like Heinleins, but the story(other than some plot lines which might be shout outs or just the result of Heinlein making concepts that inspired so much later sci-fi) is different in style with almost every anime trope out there, lots of historical Japanese culture, and tons of easter eggs of references to popular tv shows. Those personally aren't a problem to me, it's just a much more modern and younger style than existed back then. The down side is there are a lot of word substitution errors, and some word missing and punctuation errors. To me this is tiny in comparison to finding someone who actually is so enjoyable to read.If the author can point me to a way to clearly send back word substitutions I could send her a fix for at least 80-90% of them within a few days.I am making this five stars because finding someone this good is huge, and word corrections are something that can be done if the author gets the right positive feedback to do it.(although I am sure Amazon makes updates limited or costly).Note: This is written for the first three books which were released at the same time, which is good because since it really isn't written so the individual books have in my opinion a natural sub story arc at the cut points.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. find an editor please By SJR The storyline was interesting. The book was hard to read. It was as if the authors used a speech recognition software to write the story. Unfortunately it seems no one re-read what was transcribed. The book and the two follow-up books badly need a professional editor.

Right or Wrong is the much-anticipated memoir of Tim Bell, chairman of Bell Pottinger public relations and one of the best-known figures in UK media communications. Born into a resolutely middle-class suburban family during the war, he left school whilst still a teenager for a job as post-boy at ABC Television. Rising through the ranks of the burgeoning West End advertising industry, in 1970 he became a cofounder of the Saatchi & Saatchi agency, duly taking on the role of international chairman as the company achieved worldwide preeminence. In 1989, he formed the Chime Communications Company.

Bell’s main claim to fame, however, was developing campaigns for the Conservative Party during the general elections of 1979, 1983, and 1987, each of which put Margaret Thatcher into Downing Street, and for which he was awarded a knighthood. In his time, he has worked with some of the greatest names of modern politics, business, and media--such as Ronald Reagan, F. W. de Klerk, the Sultan of Brunei, Rupert Murdoch, and David Frost--and on world events, historical and controversial alike. Today, his clients include the chairmen of many of the UK’s leading companies and organizations as well as foreign heads of state, politicians, and businesses.

With critical appreciation of former clients the Saatchi brothers, as well as Ronald Reagan and Nelson Mandela,Right or Wrong is an enlightening account of an intriguing, unique, and influential career.

Review

“A brilliantly witty and revealing account of life as one of Britain's most influential men and Thatcher's closest confidant.” ―Jane Fryer, Daily Mail

“A chronicle of hand-to-hand combat with narcissistic lefties . . . Mad Men-style excesses with the Saatchi brothers, awkward moments with Princess Diana and cosy interludes with Thatcher.” ―The Times

“It is a gloriously indiscreet account of life among Thatcher's inner circle, detailing--among other highlights--the night Margaret drank herself into a stupor, her withering treatment of Geoffrey Howe, and the astonishing intervention she made when Bell fell out with the Saatchi brothers, his former employers, whose own maverick behaviour makes the ad agency cast of Mad Men look kittenish.” ―Daily Mail

“A cracking read . . . let's make no bones about it . . . this book is a fierce right-wing polemic. But even those on the left can admire its candour and clarity of thought.” ―PR Week

“A pacy and enjoyable read.” ―Dominic Sandbrook, The Sunday Times Culture Magazine

“Deliciously indiscreet, indisputedly in the know and indispensable for anyone interested in contemporary politics.” ―Irish Times

By Amazon Customer Great biography but not a very flattering portrait of the advertisiing/PR industry. Few come across as being " nice " people and it is clear they consume a great deal of alcohol... but still worth reading to get a taste of how the industry works

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Do not waste your money on this. By Dr. Pepper Incredibly poor. Looks like it was lifted from an encyclopedia. Sentences do not parse. Took 15 minutes to read. Do not waste your money on this. Feeling ripped off.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I feel dumber for reading this. By X. S. This has to be the worst book I've read this year. There is no pretence of editing. It's hard enough to get past massive grammatical errors every other paragraph, but there is even more at play here. The author did a quick pass over with the spell checker and called it a day. As a result, words are missing entirely from sentences, ridiculous combinations of words are injected in various places, and it becomes impossible to take this work seriously.
