By IGNATZ My Gift of Now is a beautifully choreographed view of the sometimes ordinary, sometimes heartbreaking and often heartwarming life of an extraordinary woman. For me reading one story each night just before bed was special. I was able to savor each in its own special mood. I highly recommend My Gift of Now to anyone who enjoys the beauty in the everyday. Elynne draws the reader into her life in the most welcoming way. It's almost like reading the journal of an old friend . It's a very special read .

Beautifully written, the joys and sorrows of life are on full display here. (my personal favorite was called Friends and Strangers. A brief glimpse into a very personal moment.) Each story has it's own heart and soul but the collection creates one whole amazing life. Highly recommended!

After many years out of school, I have recently taken an interest in the details of phonics. I have started reading the first book of the wonderful old McGuffey's Readers. How to Teach Phonics adds the equivalent of teachers notes to my pursuit by providing a systematic approach for the first four years of reading including general rules for pronunciation.

About the Author An English philosopher, John Locke is the first person to expound the theory of empiricism in a methodical manner. Locke firmly believed that experience is the key to knowledge. He negated the likelihood of intuition leading to information and understanding.

Ryan On the list of thinkers who have exemplified what Brand Blanshard called the "rational temper," John Locke must surely place very high. The reader of this his most influential and important work will be constantly struck not only by his sane and sober approach to philosophical questions but indeed, as another reviewer has noted, by how commonplace his own proposed solutions have become. It will be found that Locke, generally regarded as an "empiricist," is extremely hard to pigeonhole. Though rejecting (an earlier version of) the doctrine of "innate ideas" and insisting that all of our ideas come from or through sense-experience, he was clearly a "rationalist" as regards the nature of knowledge itself. Both modern empiricists and modern rationalists could benefit from a healthy infusion of his reasonable, even-handed tenor and uncommon common sense. Also highly recommended is E.J. Lowe's _Locke On Human Understanding_, an excellent introduction and overview to this great work as well as a delightful and highly insightful attempt to show that many of Locke's positions are still defensible today (though perhaps in need of some modification). It is a handy companion to the present volume both for the beginner and for the longtime reader of Locke; even those who know Locke well (or think they do!) will find Lowe's work engaging and enlightening.

59 of 69 people found the following review helpful. Locked Into Reason 18th Century Style By mp John Locke's 1698 "Essay Concerning Human Understanding" is one of the foundational texts of Western philosophy. It is a phenomenal enquiry into how and why people become functional individuals. Bringing into philosophy a developmental model of personal becoming, Locke drilled pre-Berkeleyan common sense into a growing capitalist nation, one which was already moving away from the absolutist model of government and viewing self in the world espoused by Thomas Hobbes in "Leviathan." While clearly building on and stepping on his predecessors, most notably Hobbes and Rene Descartes, Locke deals broadly with ideas, language, and how people come into knowledge, and sets the stage for a new phase of philosophy entering the 18th century.Locke begins the "Essay" by rejecting and dispensing with the notion of "innate ideas," which basically says that we are born in possession of certain principles, elements of knowledge, or maxims that help us orient ourselves in the world. Through long and drawn out (one downside of Locke is his insistency on detail and repetition) examples and arguments, he attempts to prove that when we are born, we have absolutely nothing intelligence-wise, to recommend us. This is what is popularly referred to as the 'tabula rasa' theory, that when first born, our minds are like "empty cabinets" or "white sheets" of paper - which experience and experience only furnishes with our ideas about the world. His goal here is to get people to question their assumptions about the world, to ask questions and decide for themselves based on reason and experience, how best to interact with the world.Locke says that the only two sources of all human knowledge are sensation (that information which is passively thrust upon our senses) and reflection (when we consider and think about that sense data, and about our own thoughts). From these "simple ideas," we are able to combine and recombine thoughts to form "complex ideas" and use clear and distinct language to express them to other people. This social aspect of this philosophy is something that really fascinated me about Locke. While focusing on the individual's growing base of knowledge, he is all the while trying to orient people to functioning in society. Saying that the end of all knowledge serves two purposes, viz., honouring God, and being morally responsible, Locke goes on to show how human life often works counter to these goals, with a view to correcting them.Another of his famous formulations, one all too familiar to Americans, as part of our national idealism, is that the basic state of nature of humanity consists in the "pursuit of happiness." Compared to Hobbes, for whom the state of nature consisted in the attempt to attain greater and greater power over others, Locke's state of nature seems relatively benign - however, he goes to great lengths to show how the pursuit of happiness often leads to reckless and wanton behaviours, ultimately destructive both to self and society. The idea that we must examine our desires and discipline them to the greater good is something that many of us lose sight of, and is an element central to his system.Briefly then, a couple of other items that might be of interest to someone thinking about picking up Locke's "Essay": His philosophy of language is one that still has currency and influence on linguistic theory all the way to Saussure and the post-structuralists; Locke's manner of addressing cultural and gender diversity is progressive, but vexed, which makes for fascinating work in trying to determine his stances toward non-white European males. Locke's constant invocation of gold in his examples can be maddening, which can only mean that there is some significance therein; and finally, his other hobby-horse, so-called "monstrous births" and their status in the human race bears heavily and still importantly on the debate over a woman's right to choose. All this and so much more awaits you - over 600 pages of Lockean goodness. Beware though, Locke is extremely repetitive and can get bogged down in what, for us to-day, may seem common sense notions. But this is quintessential reading, nonetheless, for everyone interested in the formation of the modern self.

Worth Re-Cognising By A Customer Any search for this text will result in a plethora of commentaries upon it, whilst it itself seems almost doomed to take second place. The importance of this work to philosophy cannot be underestimated; Descartes is held in common perception to be the figure who changed the course of philosophy. Whilst it is true he may have dipped his toes in uncharted waters, Locke was the first to plunge in. Here we find human understanding stripped to its first principles and from there rebuilt in such a fashion as to purge the presumptions of our age. Locke recommends modesty to the philosopher and thinker throughout and in our current times this message might need restated. In a world, which owes so much to the United States Constitution, it would be appropriate for us all to see what it owed its own origins to and be recalled to values of liberty, modesty and reason in a way which does not rush headlong into a catastrophe of pride.

By John Hamner The best book I have read that clearly explains why Dr Ben Carson would be the best nominee for the GOP in 2016 and will win the election by a landslide. It explains in detail why Black and Hispanic Americans will vote for him and what he will accomplish during his term. This is a must read for anyone who is concerned where our country is headed.

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Buy this book if you plan to vote in 2016 By Tdaoust I read this as a free paperback copy from Carson's campaign. I had just finished reading great books by Scott Walker and then Marco Rubio. Carson is the best candidate to beat the Dems. The book tells why he will win, and why his heart is in the right place. Unlike Obama, Carson loves America. More importantly, Carson's candidacy will attract a large portion of minority voters who are essential to a Democrat win for president. As such he is the Dem's worst nightmare. He is the GOP's best hope to defeat the Dem candidate, whoever it might be. Great read.

A simple photo shoot. Some pictures on a modeling site that weren't supposed to go anywhere. A call for an "audition" that will change Vanessa's life and her impending marriage to fiance Nathan. Because the company Vanessa is auditioning for isn't a regular movie company. No, they're the kind of organization where the casting couch is the movie, innocent girls are the stars, and Vanessa finds herself getting so turned on that she does something stupid, something she knows Nathan won't approve of, and makes a video that the casting agent promises will never see the light of day. Only he lied. Nathan is about to discover exactly what kind of naughty "modeling" his fiancee did in full HD video online, and he's going to discover he likes it. A lot. And wants to see more of it! The young couple quickly finds fantasy and their wedding night hurtling towards one another as they entertain the ultimate taboo offer from the movie company: giving up Vanessa's innocence to another man on their wedding night in exchange for one hell of a "modeling fee!" It's the ultimate taboo, but it turns out it's the ultimate turn-on as well as the soon-to-be newlyweds consider consummating their new marriage in the naughtiest way possible: with Vanessa in the arms of another man! A new novel by Lexi Archer, author of your favorite stories about women who stray and the men who love them for it!

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Generally very good .... By Alan W First off let me just say I absolutely love the premise of this book ! The whole idea of a virgin bride becoming a hotwife on her wedding night is a very powerful erotic image and this book is easily the best ever written about that idea. The book is a good read in typical Lexi Archer style with a long slow build up with plenty of character development and plot lines intersecting. One thing I found a bit unusual was that it was written from a first person perspective like all the authors books but in alternating chapters (ie: one chapter was from the bride to be perspective, the next from her groom to be) which made it just a little hard to follow but after a few chapters I got used to it and it was no problem. The premise itself might be a bit far fetched for some people but this author made it actually very believable by using the concept of the couple being paid a large sum of money by a website producer while living out their fantasy at the same time. The book builds up towards the final big sex scene on the wedding night and the scene itself is mostly pretty good but had some issues with the interactions with the film crew (which were central to the plot) being rather intrusive and taking a bit away from the erotica aspect of the scene which in itself I agree was a bit short and lacking in detail for a big finale. Also the couple themselves actually don't consummate things themselves afterwards which should have been the final scene. So although the ending has a few minor issues that perhaps could have been handled better I still think the sheer concept and the clever and believable way it was handled together with the great writing and vibe is worthy of a high rating. Excellent !

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. a good read By boxcar0816 I was given an advance copy of this work for and unbiased review. While it is not the best work Lexi Archer has ever done, It is still worth reading. It was a whole new concept of "Hotwifing" one that I had never read before. I do like their to be some character development, but feel that there was to much this time. I felt that the main scene in the book could have been more explicit than it was. All in all it was a good read and held my interest thru out. Just felt like more hot scenes were needed.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. This was a good story in which the sexual tension was drawn out ... By PS This was a good story in which the sexual tension was drawn out nicely, with a bit of drama added in the conflicts between Vanessa and Mike, and Nathan and Jeremy. The only bone I have to pick is that the final sex scene is too short and could have been much raunchier; perhaps including an anal or a facial.

Best PDF Ebook I Probably Screwed You Too: The Mostly True Stories of Kenny "Starmaker" Bolin, by Kenny Bolin

There's a reason they call Kenny Bolin the Starmaker. For nearly a decade, Kenny Bolin sent more men from Louisville's Ohio Valley Wrestling to the WWE than anyone. Bolin had a hand in making the careers of John Cena, Rico Costantino, Rob Conway, Mark Henry, Bobby Lashley, Sean O'Haire, Lance Cade, Mark Jindrak, Mike Mondo, Carlito, Sylvester Terkay, and many more. Now, the retired manager turned media giant is telling his story. One of the sharpest minds in the history of wrestling, Kenny Bolin's story has become the stuff of legend. From his humble beginnings as the son of Kentucky's last convicted cattle rustler; to his childhood friendship with the nefarious Jim Cornette; to the many schemes he allegedly perpetrated on the American public; to a chance meeting with Nick Gulas at Service Merchandise; you'll read how this humble Kentucky wrestling fan stubbornly refused to pay his dues and waited for the moment when the wrestling gods wised up and gave him what was coming to him. The tale of Kenny Bolin is so outlandish, so outrageous at times, you'll swear it can't possibly true - and some of it isn't. Thankfully, Kenny conned a few of his close, personal friends to come along for the ride to help you sort fact from fiction, including Mark Cuban, Jerry Lawler, Jerry Jarrett, Dutch Mantell, Rico Costantino, "The Sinister Minister" James Mitchell, Terry "Garvin" Simms, Dean Hill, Nova, JBL, Mark Henry, Damien Sandow, Sylvester Teraky, Bill Apter, and even Jim Cornette. This book may not be the most truthful book you'll ever read, but it is the most entertaining and funny wrestling memoir you'll read this week. So grab a chair, pop on a pair of Beets by Bolin headphones, and prepare to shake your head in disbelief as you read the (mostly) true stories of Kenny Starmaker Bolin.

About the Author If you want to know about the author of this book, buy the damn book and read it. It’s called an autobiography. The entire book is about the author. So if you think I’m gonna give even one thing away for free on the back page of this book, you’re even more ignorant than Danny Inferno.

Wills If you are looking for a wrestling book with great analysis, a broad historical perspective and a fascinating and thought-provoking look back at yesteryear, Don't buy this book cause you ain't getting that here. Amazon sells those dime-a-dozen books all-day long on this site. However, If you are looking for a book that is a look inside the life of one of the more interesting characters in Louisville and all of wrestling, a book full of hilarity with great digs and zings (especially at Jim Cornette and others), A book which made me laugh out loud multiple times in Buffalo Wild wings, THEN BUY THIS BOOK. Best of all, Kenny tells it like he sees it is and doesn't dare do like other so-called authors who let pesky things like truth and facts get in the way of a great, great story. This man is not only a legend in Ohio Valley Wrestling, but also a icon in most Louisville Restaurants. Yet, Somehow, he doesn't have to buy a meal. Armed with nothing but quick wit, autographed photos, various DVDs and his Beets by Bolin headphones, he is able to talk his way into coming out with a free meal. I wouldn't be surprised with his gift of gab if after the free meal, he could figure out a way to even get himself some cash back like a human Rewards Credit Card and pick up a substantial 18% tip for himself as well. The fast-talking, sharp-tongued founder of Bolin Services was even able to get fans to spend almost eighty bucks to praise him in this book (page 220) to make even more CASH like the fine entrepreneur and American Success story he is.If you love his podcast "The Bolin Alley" or think his appearances on "The Jim Cornette Experience" are off the chain, just wait until you read the book. I couldn't put the book down. I really couldn't put it down and I wound up reading the whole tome in one day. Make you sure the read the story of Timmy John, Jimmy and Kenny at the Cockfights (page 32) and especially the Chapter on Kenny as best man at Jim and Stacy's wedding (page 176) . If not for Kenny Bolin, the Cornette's wouldn't have had the glorious wedding day which they had all thanks to the Starmaker. Kenny even comes totally clean and admits the WORST THING HE HAS EVER DONE on Page 189. I couldn't believe it myself. HOW COULD YOU, BOLIN? WHY KENNY WHY???? For you roadie (rat) story fans, you should read about Bolin's Women on 246 to see an confession like no other previous confession in wrestling. He even give his opinions on the best restaurants in the greater Louisville area on 247. EVERYONE SHOULD PAY ATTENTION WHEN A FAT MAN TALKS ABOUT FOOD! Never trust a skinny restaurant critic! Bo(lin) knows wrestling and Bo(lin) knows FOOD!Funnier than WWE investors conference call and equally as absurd as a TNA Profit and Loss statement, not only will you not be disappointed, but you will be happy you donated some of your fine hard-earned American dollars to America's Last Great Con Man... er, Last Great Cookware Salesman (page 53). Read about Ma Bolin, his brother Biscuits and Gravy, Nick Gulas, Jim Cornette, Jerry Lawler, Chris The Prince Bolin, Papa John, Col. Sanders, Mark Henry, Damien "Macho Mizdow" Sandow, plus many Bolin Services members including John Cena, Rico, and many more. With Comments by JBL, Sinister Minister James Mitchell, "Nova" Simon Dean, Terry Garvin Simms, Dutch "Zeb Colter" Mantel, Jerry Jarrett, and even Shark Tank's own Mark Cuban, I would rank it a definite must read. (If you can't read or if you are really really stupid, have some read it to you. I'm sure even Kenny himself might consider doing it over the phone for a per-minute premium price sent to his paypal.)Spend the money. Don't be cheap like your wrestling fan brethren. If you sell it when you are finished, you probably can make Double your money back (page 49), just like the old meat guarantee at Kroger's grocery store in the 80's.(Better yet, Buy a few copies and sell those at a higher cost to friends to cover your costs. That will mean you learned something from Bolin.)No, I didn't get a free book in exchange for a positive review of this book. Kenny's way too damn cheap to give any books away for free and that skinflint even would probably have charged me double postage also. I probably wouldn't mind if he did though. While some say that the best things in life are free, The mostly true stories of Bolin aren't free and never will be, but your purchase of this fine read will allow you (for a mere pittance) to be one of the few, the proud to now be able to admit (just like me) that Kenny Bolin probably screwed you too!!!

If you hate that obnoxious prick of a has been wrestling manager with a tennis racket you must read this book! If you hate the Kroger company and all the nazi like tactics they engage in you must read this book! If you hate the University of Kentucky Wildcats and you think their fans are idiots especially certain fans from Carrollton, KY who live on the Kentucky River you must read this book! If you're disgruntled with modern wrestling and think more progressive tactics and original ideas need to be implemented in order to save the wrestling industry you absolutely must read this book! If you hate the Irish and all their drunken ways you must read this book! If you hate the horrible state of Indiana and think all residents should jump in the Ohio River and drown you must read this book! If you hate any Golden Corral haters you must read this book! Oh did I mention that prick of a former wrestling manager with the nerdy glasses who complains all the time? Yes if you hate that jerk you must read this book! If you hate being screwed you still MUST ABSOLUTELY read this book! It's that important!

I occasionally like to hear it from a real pro like you" By Jim Mitchell In grammar school I was mesmerized by an older kid in the neighborhood that wore a T-shirt which featured a defecating bovine and the caption, "Although I consider myself to be a world class bulls***ter, I occasionally like to hear it from a real pro like you", or something along those lines. That pretty much sums up my feelings for Kenny Bolin and his book. Bolin slings bulls*** with the artistry of Jackson Pollock throwing paint on a canvas. He is a shameless grifter, but the kind that makes you want to get lied to or ripped off by him at least once, just to say you had the honor of experiencing it.Kenny Bolin had a hand in guiding the careers of numerous pro-wrestlers that went on to become household names. Amidst a treasure trove of hilarious wrestling anecdotes, are even funnier off-camera antics. A non-wrestling fan stuck in a bathroom with nothing else to read would be thoroughly entertained by opening up this book on any page.
