3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Fast paced story By Carole Wooten 3 StarsI was really hoping that this book would wrap the trilogy up in a spectacular fashion. Unfortunately, I felt like this conclusion was a bit predictable and not nearly as exciting as the first two installments. I did enjoy the story. There was tons of action as I have come to expect and all of the loose ends were actually tied up quite nicely. This book just seemed to be missing the something extra I was looking for. This is the third book in the Unknown Assassin trilogy and I really think that readers will be lost if they have not read the first two installments prior to this book. This is a trilogy that is not based in reality and if I were to sit down and analyze everything that happens, I would quickly come to the conclusion that a lot of things that happen simply are not possible. That is what I love about fiction - all things become possible. This book is exciting in a way that spy movies are exciting. There is so much action that it is hard not to have some fun with it.The problem with this book is that I went into the story expecting the unexpected. I know what Zach is capable of and am no longer as impressed by his almost super human skill set. Unfortunately, no new skills were revealed in this book. In addition, it has already been established that Zach is questioning the Program so his behavior in this book was really what I had expected with one exception, Tanya. It seemed a bit out of character that Zach would trust Tanya so quickly. This is a YA novel and it definitely has that feel to it. There is quite a bit of violence but that is to be expected when the main character is a trained assassin. There is a fade to black sex scene as well. This book may be best for teens at the high school level. The book was really fast paced with a lot of excitement. I really appreciate the fact that the story was wrapped up satisfactorily but I would have enjoyed a couple of surprises along the way. I think that readers of the trilogy will be pleased to have all of their questions answered. While this is my least favorite book in the trilogy, I still think that it is a strong ending. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fast paced, YA novels with a lot of action. I would recommend that this trilogy be read in order so readers will want to start with the first book, I Am the Weapon.I received an advance reader edition of this book from Little Brown Books for Young Readers via NetGalley for the purpose of providing an honest review.

By Cheshire Cat Action-packedFast-pacedPage-turnerWho do you trust? What will happen next?Who will survive? In this exciting conclusion to Zach's (aka, Boy Nobody, aka Ben, aka Daniel) story, Zadoff dives us head first into the craziness that Zach's life has become. Howard has been kidnapped, Zach thinks his father may still be alive, and Mike, or The Program, or both, are questioning Zach's loyalties. This one started intense, and remained so until the very end.I could feel Zach's questions rising from the pages. His confusion. His doubts. His loyalty to his new friendship. His loyalty to the doctrine The Program trained him in. His respect of Mother and Father. His desire for normalcy and trust. So many conflicting emotions and feelings. I really felt for the guy! I liked being in Zach's head, balancing the trained assassin and soldier that he was with the 16 year old kid finally questioning what's going on around him. His suppressed fear battling with his ever emerging emotions. His swaying loyalties. His instincts driving him toward a friendship he could trust and a girl he hoped he could also trust.Zach had such a compelling character, and I was rooting for him the entire time - that he would make the right decisions, that The Program would not stop him, that he would solve the mysteries boggling him, and that he would finally find friendships he could believe in and be the peaceful soul I think he bone-deep wanted to be. I also loved Howard and his character and the role he played. I love that he's just a simple guy, but even in fear, he is a fierce friend, completely reliable, and ready to do battle. Tanya was quite the interesting mystery girl, and that's pretty much all I can say about her without giving anything away. But I liked her. This was a series I truly enjoyed, and 'I Am the Traitor' was the perfect conclusion. I loved going on this journey with Zach, fascinated by his transition from trained assassin to loyal friend. As an adult, I loved this series, and I think mature teens would love it as well.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A little disappointing By Alexia I Am the Traitor is the final installment in the Unknown Assassin trilogy. While I still like the boy assassin, this was my least favorite of the three books.Boy is trying to figure things out because he still has doubts about The Program, isn't happy that they kidnapped his friend Howard, and wants to find out if his father is still alive. With so many questions, he decides to start back at the beginning and tracks down one of his father's associates. Strangely enough, the man runs as soon as he sees Boy. And so begins another adventure....With the help of fellow assassin Mike, Boy finds and rescues Howard. There's an unexpected complication of a fellow hostage that Howard won't leave behind, so against Boy's better judgement they bring Tanya with them. Unexpected complications rarely turn out well, do they? While still an interesting story, this one didn't seem as fast-paced or action-packed as the other two. There was still plenty of action, but it didn't have the same impact on me for some reason. The ending bothered me more than anything. I still have so many unanswered questions, so wish there had been an epilogue or something to help clear things up. Still a good read, I Am the Traitor is just a little disappointing after the first two books.

Hope by Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus | Summary & AnalysisWith Mary Jordan and Kevin SullivanA Memoir of Survival in Cleveland

Preview:

Hope, the story of two of the three young women held captive by Ariel Castro, is a graphic and gripping account of a decade of abduction, assault, and abuse in a rundown house on Seymour Street in a rough section of Cleveland.

Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus, the two youngest of the three captives, wrote their stories together because they wanted everyone to know the truth, not only about what they endured, but about the hope that enabled them to survive. They derived strength from seeing their families on TV and from the bright spirit of Berry’s daughter, Jocelyn, born four years into her mother’s ordeal.

On April 21, 2003, Berry was a regular teen, working at Burger King, listening to Eminem, and hoping to go to college. She usually did not walk home from work because her mom thought it was dangerous, but no ride was convenient that night…

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. "INSTAREAD” PROVIDES A VALUABLE SERVICE By Robert Steven Thomas This is an overview of the actual book itself. Kind of like a cliff's notes for the book. It gives us more than enough knowledge and information regarding the book’s content to determine if we want to invest the money and take the time to actually read the full book. Depending on the cost of the full book, this service may be a very practical method of saving potentially a lot more money on a book you may not truly appreciate. The subject of this particular book is Ariel Castro's kidnapping of the young, female-teens in Cleveland resulting in what many writers have proclaimed one of the most despicable crimes of America's 21st Century

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Hope in the midst of chronic abuse! By Richard and Liz Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus were the two youngest of the three women held captive by Ariel Castro for 10 years in Cleveland, Ohio. (I am sure everyone remembers hearing about it on the news.) In this Instaread summary (think very detailed review) you will find an 8 page summary including some important dates. The 'Character Analysis' is of Berry and DeJesus. What are the 'Themes' of the original book?Hope/survival * Faith, hope and charity * The man and the monster * Welcome to the neighborhood * Learning from a decade of frustrationThis is an EXCELLENT section. Despite the hope, it is important to note that "there is simply no escaping the graphic and heartbreaking horror of what is happening in the house.." What the original book/their story has done is raise awareness of similar cases etc. This summary, yes remember this is NOT the full book, is an excellent option for those not able to 'stomach' the graphic details of the original but do want to know a little more. Read the original and want/need to capture the main points? Perfect!Book received in exchange for an honest review. Thanks, Liz

This summary and analysis of "Hope: A Survival Story in Cleveland" paints with broad strokes and captures the message of hope. It is a story of three women who were abducted and abused for ten years by a school bus driver. The graphic nature of the novel "Hope" makes this summary hard to put down. Other reviewers mention that its better to read a summary than the actual novel if you're squeamish and can't handle the explicit themes. I would heartily agree, even the synopsis of the story was enough for me.The best section of this review was the analysis of the theme "man or monster." The big question of this novel is how did a man become as twisted as Castro? How did he become the monster that would abduct teenagers and repeatedly rape them? It's a question that Instaread tried to answer through their review, but one that we'll still philosophize over. But in short, this is a great review. It offers in depth analysis, a concise summary, and all formatted to make for an easy read. Better than the competition!

This is a dark romantic thriller series intended for adult audiences.*Special edition epilogue*Passion and lust ignite. Dark and light battle. This explosive first installment of the Broken Bonds series sets the exhilarating pace for a cat and mouse game where no one knows who's really pulling the strings.Book One: Criminal profiler Sadie Bonds knows blood. Her affair with the gruesome, dark world of killers began long before she started applying her analytical skills to investigate gory crime scenes. She gets inside the killers' heads, breaks them down, relates to them on an arcane level. She prefers it this way--because it's safer to ally herself with the villain than the victim. At least, that's how she's coped ever since she was abducted and tortured as a teen. She will never be a victim again. Now, she's honed her skills in order to bring justice to these ritualistic offenders. Working alongside her colleagues, armed with sharp wit and a SIG, Sadie always catches her sadist. Until one ruthless serial killer gets inside Sadie's head, turning the tables. He knows her secrets. Her obsessions. The darkest, most deviant part of her soul. When she meets Colton Reed, dangerous stakes are raised as he threatens to unravel her control and reveal her darkest fantasies. The sexy-as-sin bondage rigger at an exclusive BDSM club pushes her boundaries, forcing her to acknowledge that side of herself she fears. Plunged into a realm of torture and suffering, pain and pleasure, Sadie balances on the razor-sharp edge of two intersecting worlds threatening to swallow her. Book Two: The UNSUB has made contact. After a rapid string of grisly murders shakes the usually peaceful city of Arlington, Virginia, the sadistic killings of young women lull into a deceptive calm. Agent Sadie Bonds knows the terror isn’t over; serial killers don’t stop until caught. And this sadist has targeted the profiler, revealing pieces of her dark past and weaving her secrets into each gruesome crime scene. Is the killer someone from Sadie’s past, her present? Or is he part of a fated future she brought on herself? The answer lies within the riddle of the copycat killings, ones mimicked after the infamous Blood Countess. As tension brews in the department awaiting the UNSUB’s next move, Sadie’s more than on edge—her deviant cravings for the possible perpetrator have ratcheted out of control. She needs the feel of Colton’s ropes binding her, sheltering her from stark reality. Only Colton Reed has his own twisted secrets that threaten to unravel not only Sadie as they come to light, but the UNSUB’s carefully constructed web now entangling both the profiler and her sexy bondage rigger. Book Three: Who is the UNSUB? For Agent Sadie Bonds, finding the answer to that question means the difference between life and death for someone close to her. The UNSUB’s latest abduction reaches right into the heart of the ACPD, forcing every member of the department to search within their ranks for the sadistic perpetrator.Suspicion not only clouds the task force; it slithers into Sadie and Colton’s bond, challenging their love. Discovering the truth means facing their past together. Sadie’s connection to Colton has quieted her inner demons—but is she strong enough to confront the real monster? All players take their places as the stage is set for the final scene. With the UNSUB manipulating the game, even Sadie and Colton fall victim, spiraling deep into the darkness that threatens not only their lives, but their trust. As Sadie navigates a tortuous maze, Colton will do whatever is takes to protect her.The truth will set you free. Only for Sadie, her truth will test the very fabric of her reality. She must silence the threat, or risk losing e

Review "5 beautiful, dark and intense Stars! I was expecting dark. I was expecting intense. I was expecting evil. What I wasn't expecting was beauty! Trisha's words inject beauty and light into an utterly dark world! I found myself constantly re-reading passages in order to savor the beauty of her words." ~Debbie is Flippin Pages"Who is the UNSUB? That is the question that we have been wondering from the very beginning of this series. And now, finally, our questions will be answered. Trisha Wolfe has really outdone herself with this final book in the broken bonds series. She has spent a web filled with mystery, intrigue and twists you don't see coming." ~Amy Bosica, Once Upon a Book Blog"Sadie and Colton have shared a lot of their demons and because of that their connection is stronger than ever. Their sexual encounters are still scorching, emphasizing the level of trust they have in one another. Colton has got to be one of my favourite male leads; the way he worshiped Sadie, but remained pretty dominant in his own way." ~Naomi's Reading Palace "Bottom Line: Steamy, intense and dark, leaves you breathless and wanting more!" ~Brandi Breathes Books

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. The books were well written with good flow and suspense that will keep you guessing until ... By in medias res “You don’t come out of the other side of a dark moment in time to the light. It doesn’t conclude on a fairytale ending. Prince Charming doesn’t swoop in and save the damsel in distress. The heroine doesn’t suddenly experience a life-altering realization that she can conquer her demons and become a beacon—a role model for all suffering souls to follow in her footsteps… This is not that story. My abductor will forever taint my reality. The nightmares will live on inside my soul, and I will cry out in the middle of the night. Though there is now someone there to warp his arms around me when the dreams claw me back down to the dungeon, they will never truly cease to exist within me.” -- Sadie Bonds (Book 3)With Visions of Red is a series of three novellas, not full-length novels, so you’d need to read the entire series to have any conclusion. The books were well written with good flow and suspense that will keep you guessing until the end. And even then you still probably won’t figure out who the UNSUB is. The descriptive crime scene details certainly aren’t for the squeamish and you won’t find Sadie and Colton to be your typical lead characters. They are a little dark and a little twisted just like the story.WVOR became more intriguing half-way through book 2 when the story really started to unfold and Sadie and Colton become more bonded with each other. While their bond is strong, it still feels rushed (kind of insta-love) especially based on Sadie’s past and inability to trust. But it was nice that Colton didn’t fall into predictable arrogant alpha-male billionaire that seems to be typical for similarly categorized books.Readers who enjoy CSI Drama/Thriller/Suspense/BDSM reads should find With Visions of Red appealing. This was my first Trisha Wolfe read and I received a free copy from the author for an honest review.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. An absolutely stunning romantic suspense series! By Ashley Bodette Book 1: Heart-pounding. Breathtaking. Edge-of-your-seat suspense. Trisha Wolfe has taken her dark and twisty writing to a whole new level. And I don't know how long I can wait for the next one!WITH VISIONS OF RED had me turning pages as fast as I could, sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time! I read it in one sitting, because how can you not? The characters are very three dimensional, and their stories are filled with unexpected twists and turns. Trisha Wolfe did a phenomenal job of getting inside all three of the main characters' heads. And an amazing job of revealing just the right amount of information at exactly the right time.Book 2: For those of you who don't know this about me, I am a HUGE Criminal Minds fan. As in I have seen every episode, at least once. And Sadie and Colton's (and the UNSUB's) story has my inner behavior analyst running on all cylinders! Trisha Wolfe's ability to take the reader inside the minds of her characters is astounding.I ADORE Sadie and Colton together. They are amazing for each other, even in their brokenness. So many other people are trying to get in the way of their happiness, it's driving me CrAzY! And who knew the UNSUB could be SO twisted? I knew he was messed up (obviously), but this guy? You will love to hate him. (Unless it ends up being a her...)This second book in the Broken Bonds series definitely brought me more questions than answers, and more suspects than I could have imagined. But that's what's so amazing about the writing in this series; it's still keeping me guessing! One of the secondary character's theories was EXACTLY the theory I had running through my mind...however, the criminal profiler (and avid reader) in me figures that theory must be wrong since that particular character was the one to come up with it. But I guess we'll have to wait and see!Book 3: I can't wipe the smile off my face. What a phenomenal ending to this trilogy! I literally have goose bumps right now!Trisha Wolfe is amazing at writing suspense. You just can't stop reading! But I don't want to spoil ANY of this final installment for you. All I have to say, is you definitely will not see this ending coming. So just sit back, buckle up, and enjoy the ride.P.S. I hope there is a spin-off. :)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Dark, Beautiful, and one of the best reads! By Amazon Customer I "borrowed" this box set through Kindle Unlimited, and getting books through KU is kind of like a grab bag. You never know what you are really going to get. But, every once in a while, you will come across a diamond among the coals, and THIS series is that diamond! A very dark and twisted psychological crime thriller that delves into the depths of the darkest parts of humanity, but does in a beautifully poetic way. It is a long and winding road to reach the ending, which provides a happily ever after of the darkest variety. Happiness, love and acceptance ... but mired in realm of darkness that is the overwhelming theme of these stories. I wish I could get all three of these in paperback, they would make an excellent addition to my library. I will be revisiting this series and look forward to future installments.

Bertrand Russell was renowned for his provocative views on education. Considered an educational innovator, Russell attempted to create the perfect learning institution. Despite the failure of this practical vision, it did not stop him from continuing to strive towards inventing and arguing for a system of education free from repression. In Education and the Social Order, Russell dissects the motives behind educational theory and practice, and in doing so lays out original and controversial arguments for the reformation of the education of the individual.

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Thoughtful, cutting, clear By Michael Willers Reading this book was a strange and illuminating experience. On the one hand, strange, because so many of Russell's thought came to roost into my mind and seemed so natural and so clear to me that I felt I had been thinking them all my life. On the other hand, illuminating, because so many of Russell's ideas were so unfamiliar and odd, and yet when put all together it is as if someone is turning on the light for the first time. Russell strikes at the heart of all that cripples education and development of the whole person, by mercilessly pointing out that the existence of the debilitating agents and uncovering the way they undermine human growth and potential. He does not stop there, however. He also praises those unique aspects of education that make us stronger, thoughtful, more critical -- those aspects, as he says, may yet save our civilization. The book is slightly outdated in part, in that there is a whole, in-depth chapter on education in the USSR, but this is nonetheless interesting from a historical aspect. The crux of this book, however, is timeless, invaluable, and well the worth the read.

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Children should become 'human' beings and true citizens By Luc REYNAERT In this hard-hitting, superbly sarcastic/cynical, and still highly relevant text, B. Russell gives his outspoken view on `free' education and its inveterate enemies, the State (government) and the Church (religion).Individualism v. CitizenshipThere is a huge cleavage between those who consider education primarily in relation to the individual psyche, and those who consider it in relation to the community. The cultivation of the individual mind is absolutely not the same thing as the production of a useful citizen. Nonetheless, it may be held that pupils will ultimately be better citizens if they are first aware of all their potentialities as individuals before they descend into compromises and practical acquiescences of the life of the polis. Education in citizenship is shortsighted, because it will stunt the individual in order to make him a convenient tool in the hands of the government.FreedomFreedom in education (= free speech) is the most difficult element to secure in the polis. State and Church are implacable enemies of both intelligence and real virtue. Moreover, any creed is harmful in education when exempt from intellectual, scientific scrutiny. Both institutions understand all too clearly that a world of real human beings would make short work of the existing social system, with its wars, its oppressions, its economic injustices, its horror of free inquiry and its superstitious moral code.Government (the State)All the governments of the world adopt elaborate methods of concealing truths which they consider undesirable. They inflict various forms of penalty upon those who spread knowledge which is thought bad for them. Governing elites are fundamental hypocrites (when the Transvaal was found to contain gold, the British invaded it. Lord Salisbury assured the nation that `we seek no goldfields'!)Patriotism and Nationalism imply that the most important duty of young men is homicide. Also, the citizens who shout for the flag are, in general, unaware of the sinister forces that have led them to do so.Religion (the Church)Churches demand assent to propositions which no unbiased person can believe, and to a morality which is so cruel that it can only be accepted by those inhibited by dogma. One example: the Catholic Church holds that a priest can turn a piece of bread into the Body and the Blood of Christ by talking Latin to it.Religion is a conservative force and preserves much of what was bad in the past. It supported slavery and now capitalistic exploitation. It minimizes such evils as poverty and disease, on the ground that they belong only to this earthly life. Its sex education makes happiness in adult life impossible.Ultimately, Bertrand Russell ask the crucial question: Is a man to be condemned as immoral and subversive, because he wishes to substitute all those sinister elements in education by intelligence, sanity, kindliness and a sense of justice?Bertrand Russell's monumental free speech still towers mightily above the mass of corrupt propagandists and shamelessly biased observers of the actual political and economic scene (a screen for those sinister interests which B. Russell lambastes mercilessly in this text).A must read.

When Anna Skye discovered that there are men around who will pay an attractive woman generously for the privilege of giving her a good spanking, belting, slippering, thrashing, paddling or caning, she realised – as a mature, intelligent and sexually active woman who had already discovered the erotic thrill of being spanked - that she had found the perfect way to repay the £20,000 debt her late husband had left her. This is Anna’s erotic, moving and often very funny account of her life before and after becoming a ‘spankee’, including her desperate attempts to have a child and the roller-coaster ride of internet dating. A true story of love and sex, pain and pleasure, anger and forgiveness. “One evening I noticed my bottom in the mirror. It was a pretty good size and shape. I fetched a slipper from the bedroom and gave myself a few whacks with it. Pah! That was nothing. I wondered if I could find a way of getting spanked for money…”

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Adult content By Amazon Customer This was an unusual book. It reads mostly as an autobiography of a most unusual woman. She was employed part time as a submissive. I found her descriptions of her world as a spankee quite interesting.I especially related to her stories of trying to conceive. It was heartbreaking for her to lose her ability to have children far too young. It was also sad about her being widowed. Unfortunately her husband did not hold up his end of their marriage financially. This left her with some very large debts. Eventually this led to her second very irregular job.Overall the book held my interest. If she herself wasnt involved in the spanking world, it certainly came across realistically portrayed.

Strange book but overall I thought it was very interesting By atomskeater To get the disclaimers out of the way, this is obviously not a book for minors. If you looked at the title and cover and thought "Little Timmy would love this," shame on you.It recounts the life of Anna Skye, an average woman as she gets into being spanked as a second career. After a fairly peaceful life, her world is spun about by several events. Among those events, she loses the ability to have children too early in life, and her husband dies, leaving her sunk into debt.Luckily there are people who would pay for the pleasure of spanking a nicely-shaped bum. Looking for a way to stay afloat and give her life a spark that it had been missing, she soon dips her toes into getting spanked for cash. The writing is conversational and friendly in tone. For those expected an especially sordid novel, the author approaches it in a very light way that is a nice juxtaposition with the BDSM contents. I found it very easy to glide through the pages. For people seeking the crazy whirlwind romance of 50 Shades, this is a surprisingly "normal" book. I found it interesting, if for nothing else than I enjoy reading about others lives. Its probably not the most exciting thing to read, and it takes a while to get to the juicy tidbits. I came to feel sympathetic when bad things happened to her, but her outlook on life is admirable and she tends not to dwell on things, instead choosing to look forward.

They together make several attempts into have children at a very large expense. Her husband, however, who hasn't worked in turn brings a financial debt to her upon his death as well as the ability to use a surrogate. At her age adoption can be a risk.Anna through a previous relationship discovers that she likes to be spanked. Now alone, desperate for a companion, in need of £20,000 she decides to try it for money. The adventures of Annas spanking life have begun as does the offer to be a "sub". All the while giving her hand to several failed attempts of online dating.Review:Ann has written this book as if it is her diary. This allows you to connect with her personally and feel what she feels as you relate. The book is not what is expected in the beginning. As you read you find it easy to go through and want to see what the outcome will be. The characters in the book are well written and I feel as I could meet these people and know them. In the end Anna learns acceptance for her life. You know she is a strong person. A good read, for mature readers only.
