Vela Lady Amelia Chesterfield, unrestrained, uncontrollable and uninhibited and the scandal that has just occurred has her family reeling! Her unceremoniously bedding below her station has her parents scrabbling. Enter the most eligible handsome scoundrel in the country, and being the richest also helps, but it's the hungry look that has you wanting to bend to his will. Garrett Darmley has his own skeletons in his closet(as in get a chair type and wedge it shut). He wants an unconventional marriage, he wants a little and a ward and a wife...and perhaps down the road..well. Amelia never had love and she never had caring but this man will bring to her life love ,family and every emotion she has never felt. Cherished and adored, but when an outside source threatens it all, it's up to the most unlikely person to help. Ava Sinclair continues her seduction, her readers are captivated with Victorian erotica unsurpassed bounds and its a delightful read. Each of her books are unique but this one has what I call an escape quality. To literally take you into the story, you live in the book it's draws you in and you fall hard for the characters. Once again a fascinating,fabulous read by a truly gifted author! Bravo Ava Sinclair!

Amelia was a rebellious girl, with uncaring and judgmental parents. Garrett was a dominant man, who was raised in an unconventional household. He was also into age play and desperately wanted his own little one. The book contained enemas, little girl clothes, a kind but firm nanny, spicy sex, oral sex, anal sex, a sex toy and few mild spankings with hands and a slipper. The characters were ok. Amelia was needy and clingy, due to her neglectful parents. Garrett was determined to have his own way, but he seemed to care about Amelia.

To understand their relationship, it is important to know their history growing up which Ms. Sinclair does an excellent job of developing the secondary characters in our story.Amelia resents the continued efforts of her parents trying to marry her off, so as a last resort she commits a very foolish act which ultimately puts her fate in the hands of Garrett. Due to his parents unusual marriage as he was growing up, Garrett has developed certain sexual tastes and needs that only certain women would cater to, but in Amelia he sees an opportunity to mold a woman into just what he wants and likes in a bed partner.Amelia's willfulness and spirit attract him like a moth to a flame, so he makes the decision to marry her and our journey begins. Amelia has no idea of the sexual education that awaits her, but Garrett enjoys the role of being a husband/daddy and training Amelia to be his "little" using various methods that are smokin' HOT!! Plus, there is additional intrigue and suspense afoot in the Darmley household that Amelia ultimately finds herself involved with.If you are a fan of Ava Sinclair's books and this genre of erotica like I am, then "His Lordship's Bride" is one story you don't want to miss! I highly recommend this book because Ms. Sinclair has a natural flair for writing age play erotica with such enthusiasm that you really don't ever want the story to end!!

Very Helpful for Anyone Considering a Return to School By Kim Foster Donna Ledbetter wants you to know that going to graduate school as a working adult is not something to do on a whim. Although she experienced it herself, she doesn't bog the reader down with her own personal narrative, but instead delivers a thoughtful, well-rounded picture of what a potential student might expect, and what they may not have thought of. (Incidentally, this wouldn't be a bad read for working adults who are considering any type of additional education; even if it's trade school instead of grad school. Sections of it would still be pertinent.) It would be easy to approach grad school with stars in your eyes, thinking of high-priced salary you hope to command when you're finished, but Donna reels you in by reminding you to choose a program well-suited to what you hope to do and one that will provide good networking opportunities. She discusses the perils of burying yourself in student loans, and how the commitment grad school requires will affect your relationships with children, spouse, and friends. You will not finish this book without getting the message that you can expect a daily grind of homework, studying, and writing--and remember, this is ON TOP of your job and family responsibilities. Tips for scheduling and prioritizing are included. Finally, and this may be of particular interest to those who've been out of school for a while and may not have grown up with keyboard in hand, this book describes the ways that fluency with all manner of technology is the norm, so you'd better be prepared to use it. I found this a very useful book and I believe it would be a good tool for anyone preparing to go to grad school or struggling with the decision about whether now is the right time. Highly recommended!

By Sue When I first read author Donna Ledbetter’s book Graduate School for Working Adults I was amazed at how the book hit home for me. Having spent years in graduate school as a working professional, I realized I passed up many opportunities to network with faculty and that lack of networking cost me greatly in my many job searches. I appreciate the how the author candidly discusses graduate school in relation to options, priorities and schedules. She also discusses the many challenges of graduate school and the important point of networking. Donna Ledbetter emphasizes nurturing the network relationships throughout the semester rather than just in the last grading periods of the semester. She explains how graduate students can use networking with the purpose of gaining knowledge from the experiences of the professors and faculty members. I totally agree with the author’s point that graduate school is often much more stressful than undergraduate school. She gives lots of tips for avoiding unnecessary stress in graduate school. She comments on topics like traveling factors, online programs, financial issues, planning study schedules and general management issues in graduate schools. Great resource for prospective graduate students and definitely a wonderful reading addition for many college libraries!

Essential reading for anyone considering grad school as a working adult By Jeff B The decision to attend graduate school as a working adult is not one to be made lightly. You should carefully investigate what will be required of you, both financially and timewise, before you jump back into the educational world. Donna Ledbetter’s book, “Graduate School for Working Adults,” should be required reading for any working adult considering an advanced degree.In her book, the author explains in very great, easy-to-understand detail what going back to school would mean for not only you, but your family and friends and everyone around you. She also lays out for you the various programs and courses offered to adults who have already attended college and are looking to go back and graduate from college.Graduate school isn't for everyone and not everyone can afford it, and Ledbetter realizes this. That's why she also explains about the costs and benefits available, such as financial aid, student loans, etc.If you're honestly wanting to go back and complete a graduate degree, but your head is full of doubts and what if's, I highly recommend this book. I promise, when you're finished with this book, you will have a better understanding of just what you ought to do!

A Harrowing Survival Story By Julie This book is about a military plane that crashes after taking off from an Alaskan base on a routine flight ,and the bravery and resilience of the lone survivor of the crash . By some miracle, he escaped unhurt ,but was deep in the Alaskan wilderness all alone . He tried to do what their training had taught them, and stay close to the crash site and hope for rescue, but after several days, he saw that they were probably unable to find the plane, so he had to fend for himself and do what he thought was best to come out of it alive , with no provisions other than a handful of matches .You can almost feel the cold he must have felt ,and the gnawing hunger that hit him . The day he began "losing it ", realizing what a bad situation he was in, was the worst. You could almost feel his panic at that point .The books tells of his miraculous journey , which lasted almost 3 months . The military and his family all thought he was definitely gone forever, but he "came back from the dead " and showed them all that sometimes, a person is lucky enough to get through a hopeless event .Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this in exchange for a review .

Epic Survival in Alaksan Wilderness By Lawrence Mayes On 21 December 1942, Lieutenant Leon Crane, Army Air Forces pilot, bailed out of his crippled B-24D bomber from Ladd Field, near Fairbanks, over the desolate wilderness of eastern Alaska. Eighty one days later he emerged from a frozen hell to an inhabited cabin on the Charley River, just south of the Yukon River, and into history for his epic survival story. Crane was a 22 year old graduate engineer from MIT and a qualified P-39 and B-24 pilot. He had received virtually no meaningful cold weather survival training prior to the accident and was a city boy from Philadelphia with no real outdoor experience. The author has exhaustively researched the circumstances leading to the crash, relates the backgrounds of the 4 other crewmen on the plane and brings the narrative full circle with the recovery efforts for the 3 crew members who went down with the plane, the last in 2007. We are left to wonder what became of the one other man who parachuted but was never found. As Lt Crane floated down in his parachute through -60F air, his mittens lost and his face and hands already frost bitten, he contemplated his total unpreparedness for what he knew was to come. The plane’s last position report had been 30 minutes earlier and searchers would have virtually no idea where to search within a 200 mile radius. He had 30 matches with him that he had purchased for his Aircraft Commander Lt Harold Hoskin to use to light his pipe. These matches proved to be Crane’s salvation as he was able to light his first fire shortly after he landed. Despite his absense of survival training, he was a very smart and analytical man who learned how to defeat cold and lack of shelter as each hour, day and finally months passed. He was able to travel long enough to find an abandoned cabin containing food and some survival equipment and providing warmth via a working stove. He eventually crafted a sled to carry enough supplies to sustain him for days, if not weeks, and he found a rifle in the cabin he used to shoot small game for sustenance. He is nearly killed by falling in the icy water of the Charley River that was his frozen trail and the numbing cold that assaulted him at every moment he traveled, and he developed a sense of despair as he searched for some semblance of civilization. His quick wits and determination to survive are repeatedly revealed as he overcomes crisis after crisis. Once he returns to civilization and his base he becomes a legend with both the Air Forces and Alaskans for his unparalleled achievement. The author tells this story because he felt it was an overlooked event of humankind reveaing one man’s extraordinary ability to adapt and eventually thrive in the harshest of circumstances. This is a well written book which should be of interest to anyone who likes aviation history, survival stories and the will to live when confronted with seemingly impossible odds.

23 of 26 people found the following review helpful. Good story but lacks focus By gas girl The author does a good job of drawing you in and the survival story is captivating. In most adventure/survival stories there is a certain amount of back story that enhances and helps explain the main story. At points in this book the back story seems to take over with historical details and characters that are far removed from the survival narrative. It feels like the author was given a writing assignment: "write 275 pages about the Leon Crane survival story". The book would have benefited from a tighter focus. The subject of the story, Leon Crane, is also somewhat confounding. An MIT engineering graduate who couldn't figure out how to strap on a pair of snowshoes but did seem to have a talent for starting fires when it was a matter of life and death. Crane himself seems to have thought the story was of little interest to others and seldom gave interviews. While he did show remarkable fortitude and some good judgement, much of his success at survival was blind luck. The survival story is not on the level of "The Long Walk" or "Minus 148 degrees" or even "Mawson's Will" which is actually mentioned in this book. "81 Days Below Zero is worth reading, but I would not recommend paying $15 for the hardback. Check it out from your library.

Chase Despite the hurt inflicted by the shackles of a family secret, Jon struggles to find some compensating merit for his parent’s insular conduct and ultimately rejects the deception that he was so meticulously trained to defend. The steely, refrigerated heart his father cultivated in Jon becomes a dagger for self-inflicted wounds. Through inspiration (Divine or otherwise), Jon is compelled to architect a morally-relevant world mortared together with love and a self-understanding based on independence of thought – and ultimately shield his own family from the conflagration. The raw material for Jon’s personal reconstruction comes from his academic exposure to the humanities and, more importantly, from the nourishing light of his wife’s unconditional love. While the book’s context is the anti-Semitic environment in New York City after Word War II, this aspect is merely the starting point for Jon to escalate to a much broader examination of the nature of some of man’s most intractable deficiencies. Despite the subject matter, the book is not just another inveighing glimpse into discrimination and hypocrisy. Rather it is an artistic examination of the dehumanizing effect of fear and hate – the precursor to so much of man’s most depraved moments. The book fractures reality in such a way that the reader is able to peer into a dark place and find a path to a worldview based on connectedness and truth. Jon Masters’ memoir reminds us that the trappings of success are no insulation from the darkness imposed by family dysfunction.

I couldn’t put it down. The author, born in 1937 and brought up in golden Manhattan by overbearing, deeply committed parents, is sworn to secrecy at age tan concerning his Jewishness. He is even confirmed in the Episcopal Church. He is duly enrolled in Power schools an set upon a course for high achievement. By dint of his grit, his smarts and an amazing capacity for friendship, he nails every milestone on the way to success. But them the golden cords begin to unravel. Career, marriage and the lie he has been living are upended. But his determination, reframed goals and, I suspect, some skilled therapy, enable Jon to become that rara avis: a happy man who has richly lived the examined life. One of the most intriguing aspects of this excellent book is the insight it offers into a significant strand of American social history: the achievement by countless Jewish families who embraced and enriched the snobbish WASP educational establishment by becoming a force in building the modern United States. Future historians take notice of this compelling primary source. Henry V.

It is a narrative about parents and children over three generations, which, while founded on a deception, is ultimately a testament to the curative power of love within a family. Jon Masters' personal experience provides lessons for all of us who have struggled to make sense of our heritage and sought to provide our children with a different -- and hopefully better -- path in life. At the same time, Fear, Fathers and Family is a fascinating memoir of Jon's quite extraordinary life.

About the Author Emma Volesky was born in Helena, Montana. From the very beginning, there was something different about Emma. She never slept more than two hours at a time. She was extremely sensitive to smells, textures, and sounds. Her moods were erratic. Her parents just thought Emma was a child who needed more care and attention than most. Emma told her parents at seven, that she held her breath, hoping to die. Within months, Emma was diagnosed with several mental illnesses. At the time, she was the youngest documented in the state of Montana as being diagnosed bipolar. Emma has been through years of therapy, multiple medication changes, and 2 hospitalizations. She has weathered the storm of accepting and living with mental illness with strength and courage. Her story is one of survival in a world of chaos. Out of the depths of despair, she has risen above time again and again. This is a book about Emma's journey thus far. Although one cannot truly know what it is like to live with mental illness, Emma gives the reader a look inside the mind of one who is dealing with mental illness. Her story is both heartbreaking and uplifting.
