We are all led to believe that there is life after death. Western religion in all of its forms advises us so. Eastern religions have their versions, and many promises are made in these religions as well. No matter the religion or continent of the world, promises have been made.

The hereafter or afterlife holds many mysteries for all of us. There does not seem to be any clear measure of what lies ahead. This work presents the instances where a person’s life has led to a carriage ride to the Promised Land.

We are all familiar with images of the boatman in a dark pool with a shrouded body with its eyes covered with coins, carrying a soul to the land of the dead. The skiff glides into a murky gloom and drifts silently into the unknown that waits across the river Styx.

The Carriage Driver requires no money; he waits patiently for all those that have gained admittance to the next higher life. The concept is simplicity itself. The Carriage Driver with his beautiful and intuitive white mare Nuelle provides passage. If the passenger wishes to wait for a loved one, there is a castle in the sky whose spires puncture heaven to accommodate them.

Those that have avoided the gates of hell have obviously gained special privilege. These stories explore those privileges. The old man and the stillborn child decide to return as twin brothers. The homeless woman decides to wait at the castle for her son’s turn before they continue. When it is the turn of a husband and wife of half a century who were born the same day, hour, and minute to go, they choose to ride the back of a whale with Ursa Major as their guide to the heavens.

The setting is Boston, with all of its history. But there are Carriage Drivers in all cities, towns, boroughs and villages. These stories bring us hope; they inspire what is good in us, and they are meant to make you think about the setting of your hereafter. Take pause, Nuelle and The Carriage Driver are waiting for you and your loved ones.

“…finds the heart and won’t let go” – Genna E.

“Totally engrossing and full of metaphors and deep felt emotion…” – Peg C.

“Excellent and quite mysterious!” – Martie C.

“Your words were magical and dreamy.” – Ruby F.

“Magical, flowery, romantic, and more!” – Mary C.

“Seriously the Carriage Driver is a painting in words.” – Verlie B.

“I sat here for several minutes, drifting into paradise and gazing at all the flowers and images in my mind that your words created.” - Phyllis D.

“Your writing is as soothing as a teddy bear and as detailed as a Monet masterpiece.” – Maria J.

“Your Carriage Driver series is the best of the best.” – Theresa D.

Free PDF Ebook Born to Fly, by Ryan Campbell

When Ryan Campbell was six he fell in love with airplanes. It was a passion that was to dominate his childhood and it was no surprise when at 15 Ryan became the youngest pilot in Australia. Inspired by his father and grandfather who were also aviators, Ryan sought a challenge and, like adventurers before him, he found one that spoke to him more than the rest. He wanted to fly around the world, solo, in a single-engine aircraft.

In Born to Fly, Ryan recounts his remarkable journey from a boy with a dream to becoming, at age 19, the youngest person ever to circumnavigate the world solo in a single-engine aircraft, and shares with us the joy of flight.

Showing maturity, determination, and courage beyond his years, Ryan fundraised $250,000 from scratch and drew on the advice of renowned aviators such as Jim Hazelton ("a man who has more hours adjusting his seat in a plane than I do total flying time") and Dick Smith before setting out on his thrilling 70-day odyssey. In Born to Fly, Ryan captures all the dry-mouthed excitement of flying alone above the earth with only one engine and recounts his adventures from staying calm with iced over wings, landing in a country where you are not welcome and dealing with international media when still a teenager.

Ryan landed 31 times in 15 countries and covered more than 24,000 nautical miles, while trying to avoid that "alternative aerodrome," the ocean.

Born to Fly is a fascinating view of the world from above, shown to us by a dryly funny and highly charismatic man who has already done more in his short life than most of us do in a lifetime.

However, after reading his book "Born to Fly", one must wonder which is his most outstanding achievement - being the youngest person to fly solo around the world or writing an exceptional 300 page book.In "Born to Fly" Ryan takes the reader on not merely a flight, but an adventure. From the spark of inspiration as a youngster, through the trials and tribulations of planning such a mammoth undertaking to finally seeing the planet through the eyes of a young adventurer. Alone in his single-engined aeroplane he conquered the globe.Written in a relaxed, entertaining style, it is an honest account that balances Ryan's determination with the genuine reservations that surfaced throughout his journey. From a dark transit of the Pacific Ocean to the amazing white crispness of icebergs between Greenland and Iceland. There are flights across ancient lands and exciting rides on a Vespa on the French Riviera. And all of this was achieved by someone who was too young to hire a car in many of the countries that he visited. This is a tale that will appeal to a broad audience, whether it is a passion for aviation or a sheer sense of adventure, there is something for every reader. "Born to Fly" is a wonderful book that will inspire youngsters to chase their dreams and leave those of us a little older with a slight tinge of envy.Owen ZuppAuthor: 50 Tales of Flight: From Biplanes to Boeings.

A really good example of personal sacrifices made to succeed in ones endeavours. When I left school my ambition was to fly aircraft, but through circumstances was not able to so. I lived this book all the way. I am now 80 years old so things have changed in aviation since the early 1950'sEasy to read and keeps you with the story right through.

The information presented within is mainly based off other writings. The author has taken this information and expanded his own perspectives and experiences in a way for others to easily understand. A glossary is added with definitions to ideas to help with reading. The books summarized are books that the author needed to read for classes while attending college. The interesting part is how someone that has lived in Canada, America, and China explains his non-traditional views with such ease. The author is not coming from one specific cultural perspective, but rather an out-of-the-box view on all aspects that incorporate travel, money, and duty. Without any barriers on his thoughts, the author takes the reader for a ride through emotional and insightful adventures. Without needed to take too much time, the book easily makes information available and easy to pick up. In order to encompass all the experiences and essays written by the author, the other six parts to the collection will be made available soon. Keep in touch and thank you.

About the Author The author has moved more times that he is old. Born in Utah, moved twenty times before he was 18, then moved to Canada. After a few years in Canada went back to America to eventually move to China for seven years. Stayed there until his Mandarin was fluent enough. Moved back to America to finish his academic career in Nursing. Originally majored in English that sent him to China to teach oral English, but wanting to follow the family tradition in healthcare, changed course and is now hoping to finish schooling with an Advanced Practicing Registered Nurse License. While finishing essays in school, classmates and professors encourages him to write more. The author is still young, but has plenty of time to improve his skills in all areas. More writing is soon to come and with much more in store for the readers.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. so here you have the unique opportunity towatch a great beginning of musings By Kindle Customer With a conversational and never didactic tone the author touches upon and theorizes on big ideas about science, society, and life. The ideas touched upon are all at once engaging, intriguing, and in some sense familiar to anyone who has spent time thinking about and engaging in discourse about the underpinnings of modern life and thought, particularly the strange ways in which science is both perceived and affects us. By his own account, the writer is in the stages of adding, editing, and improving the volumes, so here you have the unique opportunity to watch a great beginning of musings, ruminations, and analyses coalesce into something greater.

I grew up in Los Angeles during the years of the mid-1950s through the 1970s, and what times they were. In 2011, I started a blog – The L.A. Baby Boomers Rewind Den – to recapture some of those memories. In my day: At my local theater, it only cost a kid 25 cents to get in. Candy bars cost 5, 10, and 15 cents. A 2 cent price increase sent me into a rage. When we kids went outside to play, our parents usually had no idea where we were. In 1960, my parents considered buying a nice 3br house for.….$13,000. I grew up in a ‘no cussing’ zone. Walking ‘cool’ was not an easy thing to do. There was a ‘golden age’ in south-central L.A. On Saturday mornings, the 1st cartoons came on TV at 6:30am. In the late 1950s, only one TV network was broadcasting in color. Etc. Etc…… There are so many memories, and everything was not all peaches & cream. When the Sylmar earthquake hit L.A. in 1971…I immediately thought it signaled the end of the world. And what closely followed that event on the Fear scale, was the sheer terror that I always felt at just the prospect of having to give an oral report in front of the class. I’ve gone as far as I can with the blog, and before closing its doors, I’ve published 213 posts in: Reflections From The L.A. Baby Boomers Rewind Den. These posts are divided into 6 sections – Lifestyle, School Days, TV & Radio, Movies, Music, and Sports. I hope that the recollections of – and reflections on – the things that are to be found within, will bring a smile, or two, to someone else’s face.

"5....10....20 - There are not enough stars for me to put on this little gem!!! I really haven't read much in the paranormal genre in about 2 years (it was my most favorite genre then) and this has definitely brought me back and reminded me what I loved about this genre. This literally has me addicted on the first page. This was one of those books that you want to read slowly because you do not want it to end, but end up reading it in one sitting because you cannot put it down. The author definitely puts it all in there - action, suspense, love, and amazing characters. The second I finished this I was stalking trying to find out when the second book will be released." - The Next Great Read Book Review "The best YA novel I've read in a long time..." - Goodreads Reviewer "This book is sort of like Twilight if the characters remained likeable for the duration of the series... This reads like a teenage version of The Southern Vampire Mysteries, and will be great fun for teens who aren't old enough to handle the sexuality of Sookie Stackhouse and her friends but might one day wish to delve into them." - Goodreads Reviewer

About the Author G.K. De Rosa has been an avid reader from a very young age. In fact, before she could even read, she tried fooling everyone into thinking that she could. At the precocious age of two, while living in Italy, she had memorized an entire children’s book in Italian and expertly turned the pages at the exact right moments of the story. As she grew up, she always enjoyed literature, no doubt having been instilled with a love of story telling from her early years in Catholic school where she was greatly influenced by exemplary teachers who taught her the value of English and Literature. Though she did not pursue writing in college and instead went for the more traditional route of International Business inspired by her love for travel and all things foreign, after a move to New York City, she found her creative writing side calling once again. She began writing a restaurant review blog, City Lights and Tasty Bites, detailing her other passion – food! The hectic hustle and bustle of the city, combined with long commuting times gave her the opportunity to spend more time reading and rekindled a lost love. After reading countless books in many diverse genres over the two years in New York City, and returning to her home state of Florida, she felt compelled to write something for herself. She had always felt particularly drawn to Young Adult novels and having been an eternal romantic at heart, a fantasy romance was a natural choice. She currently lives in South Florida with her real life Prince Charming and their fur baby, Nico the German Shepherd.

The first full-length biography of George Ingle Finch - maverick Australian mountaineer, scientist, concert pianist and father of actor Peter Finch.

George Ingle Finch, mountaineer, soldier, scientist, rebellious spirit, boy from the bush, was in his day one of the most famous men in the world. In 1922 he stood at the highest point on Everest, a feat not bettered for 30 years. He invented the predecessor to the puffer jacket and pioneered the use of oxygen in climbing. A World War I hero whose skills also helped save London from burning to the ground during the Blitz of World War II, he was a renowned scientist who was personally chosen by Nehru, the first Indian prime minister, to help lead his nation into the modern world.

With a private life torn by war and misguided by social norms, a reputation as an outsider among the British alpine climbing establishment, and some rough and ready 'colonial' habits, Finch was a brilliantly colourful character - so why has he vanished from the pages of history? In this first full-length biography, Robert Wainwright surveys the man who is now best known as the father of Academy award-winning actor Peter Finch - but who was so much more.

Maverick Mountaineer, by Robert Wainwright

Review [A] compelling biography... As a study of a man whose greatness we would do well to remember and applaud, it sparkles. Independent Finch emerges from the pages of Robert Wainwright's The Maverick Mountaineer as a keen explorer of geographical, professional and romantic terrain... Wainwright chronicles it all with aplomb... Wainwright has done a fine job of rescuing his protagonist from the footnotes of climbing history. He has restored the reputation of a man whose achievements were frequently overshadowed by the romantic fate of Mallory and the later triumph of Edmund Hillary. We rediscover a climber who, as Finch phrased it, had "the craft at his finger-ends". Daily Telegraph Finch was the best technical climber of his time, and he reached farther up Everest than anyone had done before - stopping only to carry a novice companion to safety. Few Western climbers have contributed as much...The best passages... are those that describe the battle of scientific progress against entrenched snobbery - a fight that may have cost Finch the chance to stand on top of the world, but ought to be remembered. The Economist Robert Wainwright has conjured up the rasp of crampons on sheet ice, the taste of peaches eaten from the tin, and the bitchiness endemic among the frozen-bearded tribe of climbers and explorers Spectator Fascinating Sydney Morning Herald A marvellously entertaining story that at times resembles a glossy television period drama. Daily Express on Sheila The charm of Wainwright's biography is that he makes us see what an engaging, admirable and sometimes heroic quality it is to be a life-enhancer like Sheila. -- Jane Shilling, Daily Mail on Sheila This splendid biography evokes the glamour of a vanished age. Mail on Sunday on Sheila Wainwright's extremely readable style is largely linear, with tantalising references to future events. Yorkshire Post The Maverick Mountaineer is a skilfully written books which contains much assiduous research. The narrative is thoughtfully enhanced by the use of diaries and letters from the Finch family archive. Climb Magazine

About the Author Robert Wainwright's previous books include the international bestseller, Sheila: the Australian ingenue who bewitched British society. He has written about Rose Porteous, Ian Thorpe, Martin Bryant and about the murder of Caroline Byrne. Robert is fascinated by characters - good or flawed - and in what drives them. In George Ingle Finch, his maverick mountaineer, he has found an outstanding personality: complex, ambitious and volatile. Robert was born in WA but now lives in London with his wife, journalist Paola Totaro, and their family.
