2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. It amazes me still By Dolores That a human being can justify what they do in any form of genocide as being necessary for some sick reason. I have to believe that there will be a special place for these inhuman creatures in the next life.

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. I couldn't read this without cringing every other page. The Auschwitz horrors are too much for a normal mind to process. By terryanny Perhaps the most powerful scene described in this book is when an Auschwitz prison work detail hunted down one of it's own then brutally and fatally beat him to death with their crowbars despite his pleas for mercy. How did the Nazi's achieve this kind of self policing? In a sane and fair world, that would seem impossible but to the Nazi's and their cruel prisoner guards, evil was a matter of course. they settled it the most horrific way imaginable. They would take ten lives for every one escapee. To the prisoners, who somehow managed to get up each morning, despite the pain, the hunger and the abject fear- escape was considered the worst kind of betrayal. Still, most finally found merciful escape through death in the end. This book clearly and disturbingly chronicles some of the worst of the Nazi horrors.

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. True narrations By reviewer This book related the horrors of Auswitz from the people who survived it. Very factual and quotes from survivors. True description of travel in cattle cars.
