As a restaurateur Nick Hudson's clientele included Elton John, Lauren Bacall, Mick Jagger, Marlon Brando, and Ringo Starr, to name but a few. But before that he joined the Merchant Navy at the tender age of 14, studied to be a doctor, learned to fly, built a yacht to race from Cape Town to Rio, then started chartering it throughout the Caribbean. After an accident in which he suffered second degree burns he convalesced in Barbados and it was there that he bought a dilapidated house, the Governer's Mansion built originally in 1629, which became Bagatelle, the restaurant which entertained the rich and famous. There hasn't been a dull moment since.

About the Author Nick Hudson has owned very high profile restaurants in London's Chelsea district and Barbados. In 1990 he refound his childhood sweetheart, Veronica, and married her. In 1998 they moved to south west France. Nick became involved with child Chernobyl victims and has visited Russia and Belarus frequently. A couple of years ago he took up Mandarin. When at home in France he is busy writing and when he gets away often it is to commentate on international high goal polo matches.

The author has achieved an enormous amount and writes honestly about his highs and lows. Interesting cast of characters - some famous, some infamous, some completely unknown gallop across the pages at high speed! I recommend this as a fun, entertaining and interesting read!
