They read like real people By Callie I generally feel that people on Amazon are too free with 5*s reviews, but I'm actually giving this 5*s and it deserves it. Yes, it's a short story, but it doesn't feel short, it feels complete for what it is, it being an intriguing snapshot, a little peek into one (erotic) story in a life (or lives since it's an erotic romance - or the start of one anyway). It's a western-themed contemporary with a HFN ending and hot sex scenes, but the most satisfying aspect for me is that it's also got really, really believable characters. They read like real people, not storybook people, in a gritty, not idealised, with flaws and all sort of way. They get really angry sometimes, get scared, have messed up childhoods, and are generally relatable. They also don't fall in insta-love or even insta-lust and sometimes struggle coming to terms with their sexuality, also in a really relatable way. Most Stephen Hoppa ebooks that I've read are like that (and yes, after I read this short story I was so blown away that one weekend I downloaded and binge-read a handful), and I have to say while they're all on the short side, they're all guaranteed good reads, except for the way they tend to leave you wishing they were longer because they really pull you in and make you want to stay. The author has a good handle on different personalities and a good understanding of people and can spin a really good yarn. They read like they're written by someone who's been there and knows what they're talking about.
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A little bite of delicious By Jo of the Awesome Incredibly satisfying short read. I really enjoyed this short story, it was down and dirty. Not only was it short, sweet, and to the point, there was actually a bit of a story line in there. *huge grin* always a pleasant surprise with such short little gems. The characters are well developed, the world build up, though in a tight time limit, was executed well. I thouroughly enjoyed this read and look forward to many more by Mr. Hoppa in the future!

Where will they end up? Fighting the attraction? Or having a solid HEA. I guess we'll never know. That's the beauty of a short story. You can add your own ending.
