“Hope - A Memoir of Survival in Cleveland” is a disturbing and graphic account of the survival of two women Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus who were held captive and abused for a decade by Ariel Castro along with another woman Michelle Knight in a two story house at 2207 Seymour Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. Their account details their ordeal in a semi diary format, where they were kept in chains, deprived of their freedom and repeatedly raped and abused by Castro. Amanda’s daughter Jocelyn was born in captivity, her father being Castro. Their story is not just about the rapes, chains, lies and misery. It is also about how they overcame all of that and lived to tell their story. It was April 2003. Amanda Berry worked at Burger King and had completed her usual shift that evening. It was a 10 minute walk home, but her mom didn’t like her walking out at night time. So she called her boyfriend DJ for a lift home but the phone wouldn’t answer. It was very well written and detailed but it just grabbed my heart, know what she went thru and all the pain and torture she had to endor.I am glad that she has found some piece in life and that her tormentor is out of her life.

By Heike Moritz terribly. the book is no more than a newspaper article and does not say more than what is known from radio and television. In less than 15 minutes I had read the news copy. Much too expensive for something you already knew.
