This story focuses on the Omega Wolf shifter, Colten who had a ton of problems with his mating to Rogue Wolfhound, Zane.This is a story about overcoming fear. How do you overcome what you're afraid of when it's your mate? How do you let go of your fear when it's been programmed into you until it's become instinctual? This is really apropo since Colten's mate is his Wolf shifter species' mortal enemy. Rogue Wolfhounds were created by Human scientists with the express purpose of stealthily tracking down and killing Wolf shifters. Omega Wolf shifters are small and not possessing a lot of strength, they are easily caught & killed when hunted down by the huge Wolfhound.Not only had Colten already just been imprisoned, cruelly treated including being slowly starved by Human scientists, he is also separated from his loving family - not knowing if they are dead or alive. Is it any wonder he is at a low point, full of fear?Now he's been "rescued" - captured again, this time by his Rogue Wolfhound mate, held at the pack's Lodge, not being allowed to leave for his own "safety", and scared out of his mind due to being surrounded by very large Wolf killers. If it weren't for his mating heat he would have tried to escape & take his chances outside the Lodge's confines.Seeing his cousin happily mated to the Rogue pack's Alpha Wolfhound, makes Colten yearn for the same with his own mate. Though frightened half to death he has noticed that his large mate isn't exactly a ravenous beast (with the exception of a very illtimed neck nibble). Actually Zane is really a good guy - if only he wasn't a Wolfhound.While I enjoyed the first book more, this one was full of surprises. Dillon's actions towards Joey continue, but this time going too far for my comfort. New Wolfhounds are introduced into the story insuring several more books in this series.I already purchased and read the third book!!
