If you’re born an omega, you don’t get to stay with your pack. Instead, you’re sent to the Omega Auctions, a place where wolves are traded between packs...and those trades aren’t always what the omegas want them to be... As an omega, Robbie Huxley was auctioned for the first time at just nine years old. The second time he was fifteen, and the third time he was eighteen. For Robbie, each auction has meant a crueler, meaner master, and a life that he loathes with every fiber of his being. The week before he is due to be auctioned for the fourth time, Robbie decides that the only option left to him is to try to run. He knows that it will be difficult, because omegas are strictly forbidden to leave their pack, but Robbie doesn’t see any other option. If he is ever going to have a chance at a life with even a tiny bit of happiness he has to strike out on his own. But Robbie doesn’t know there is a wolf whose job it is to hunt down, and bring back, escaping omegas. And that wolf is coming after him with a very specific purpose in mind...

Dr. K. A. Garth is an advisor on victims' policy on the United States Sentencing Commission, and academic Program Director, Masters in Public Administration Program at CSU (online). She argues that as the various aspects of corrections' systems are failing, there are questions about locking away and warehousing offenders. Policies that shut-away many multicultural offenders including women caring for the children of our future, are not the most efficient use of public funds. Education models using distance technology (eLearning) and curricula infused with critical literacy theory and joint venture work projects that teach marketable job skills and pay marketable wages for taxes, victims restitution and forced inmate savings, are pragmatic alternatives to just lock'em up. As an independent observer for the Bureau of Justice Assistance, she witnessed first-hand the benefit to offenders. The Chains of Eleuthera model suggests changes in corrections management and administration to impede destabilization of communities where offenders are returning unprepared to compete for employment and provide for their families. Jamal is the fictional character used to inform the reader of the issues and paradoxes of operating American corrections. Readers will want to get involved and advocate for use of efficient and effective management practices that are described in this book to return offenders back to our communities as social assets rather than predators. Restorative Justice and community restoration involves the offender, victim and our community. Scholars, justice professionals and politicians demand the use of a common sense approach to making criminal laws and policies. This book intends to show that there is another, perhaps more sophisticated and sensible, way to make decisions about crime control and prevention in America. Correctional bureaucracies are essential to ideals of rehabilitation and restoration of justice for the offender, victim and the community. Dr. Garth has years of experience in the corrections policy arena, and combined with sound evaluation of the research, and testimonials from practitioners and offenders, and victims, the book findings should appeal to a broad readership. Special Master Alan Breed has written the forward to the book in hopes of encouraging dialogue among correctional professionals and policy makers regarding new approaches to offender rehabilitation. This book is makes a contribution to shaping the future of corrections by using better policies and practices.

Great research that inspired me to write the author to conduct a workshop. I believe we all can learn more from Dr. Garth-James.

Burns In theory this sounds like a good plan for training prisoners, giving them a chance to earn some money to send home and getting them ready for release. I fear exploitation by the businesse! The author is defensive, argumentative, longwinded, but thorough.

The relationship between Ceony and Prit was unresolved, and honestly had a lot of turmoil for nothing. She got to say sassy speeches to him, but it just seemed so trivial. Also, the entire ending with Bennet was so weird. It was like the author didn't want Ceony to have a healthy friendship with any man that might be interested in her. Bennet was an understanding and compassionate person, so why turn him into a dick in the last pages of the book? Especially after Ceony had justified willing flirting with him to get him to do things for her - she wasn't exactly a very nice person to him.And Ceony really got a little tiring with her "I can solve everything attitude". She was best in the first book where she was young and had no choice but to go out and save the day. In this book she was older, and it turned into just being reckless and dumb. She should know better, and it was really hard to be excited about her adventures when the only thing I could think of was "this is so dangerous and counter-productive."I think the problem is as the book went along, I didn't LIKE Ceony anymore. I wouldn't want to hang out with her, as she seemed like a rather fussy, uptight person to deal with.

25 of 29 people found the following review helpful. Incredibly disappointed By Theresa *Sigh* I'm really disappointed in this third book and struggled to finish it. [Contains some spoilers, but not big ones.]I read The Paper Magician (Book #1), and really enjoyed it. The world the author created was built just enough, the characters were interesting, the villain was unique, and the resolution was satisfying. Ceony, the protagonist, was a little annoying, but in a youthful sort of way that made sense for her character. I didn't *love* the relationship between Ceony and Emery, but it also didn't feel out of place. The Glass Magician (Book #2), was less enjoyable than the first book, but follow-up works are hard and I still enjoyed the read. Ceony's infatuation with Emery was really starting to irk me, but I was still able to write it off as a crush on her part. Her friendship with Delilah seemed out of place because Delilah (or hardly any other characters from her school, etc.) was not introduced in the first book. So, now I'm to The Paper Magician (Book #3). I basically didn't like anything about this book. Ceony comes off as ridiculously juvenile and whiny despite being more experienced and about to test for her official title of "Magician." In the previous books she was headstrong, but in this one she's just silly. Maybe the author was trying to show Ceony's evolution into a full-fledged magician, but it didn't work. Mg. Bailey as a character had a lot of potential but by the end of the book I didn't even know why he was a character in the story at all! He ends up being a weak Snape knock-off. Ceony's obsession/infatuation with Emery became really obnoxious (as a side note, I didn't care for how much cooking/cleaning/etc. she did in the first two books, but in the third book, combined with all the other "relationship" details, it really seemed like she was practicing to be a maid/wife). Ceony's relationship with Bennet was also really random, and the ending conversation between them came out of no where. And let's talk about the ending conversation between Ceony and Mg. Aviosky... Um, what?!? I know this book is a period piece, and the role of women and opportunities for women need to be considered in that context (I guess), but seriously....I'm giving this book 3 stars because the first two were substantially better and laid at least a bit of a foundation. On it's own though, I'd probably give the book 1-2 stars.

To all of you who may be reading this, I give you my wholehearted guarantee that this book will move and effect you on a deep and lovely level. It is best to think of these books, as one story. This is the reason why I have not commented or reviewed until now. The first volume, if you will, is purely foundational. The second is fast paced and exciting. This is where our heroine goes through her trials, and comes out victorious. The third is matured, and ties up loose ends without disappointment. – no god in the machine or loop holes. When you think of the book in this way, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed.Instead of spoiling anything for anyone, let me say this: I waited. I waited and looked forward (even marking it on my calendar) to this book’s final installment, and downloaded it as soon as it came out. I would not be surprised, given a good agent, to see this book one day as a movie.Again, I will not spoil or ruin anything for anyone. Just please download this book. Go do it right now. Start with book one though (or volume rather?). You know you want to download it, so just download this book already!A special note to the author: you have captured our attention. You have an eye for detail, and do not give in to the temptation of many “writers” these days who are obsessed with gratuitous sex and unneeded clichés. Stay true to yourself. Don’t let anyone tell you that you need to change your style to appeal to a “broader” audience. Books like “Twilight” and “50 Shades” are drivel and shlock. You have a gift. Please never change and believe in yourself. And if magic were to play a role in an upcoming story, then that would be lovely. Regardless of what you write, I will buy anything from this day forth. You have officially acquired a dedicated fan. … please… don’t let me down. Oh! But I know you won’t, so just get to writing the next book already!Last comment: please don't write another volume of this book. Let it go out perfectly as it is. If you must write in this universe again, then choosing a child or someone totally unrelated to our heroine would be best. There is a reason Darcy and Lizzy are still living wonderfully and in love. It is because Jane knew not to messy up a room with nervous energy. Let the room stay still and move on to the gardens. There are always weeds to pull if you are looking.

It’s a Long Story by Willie Nelson | Summary & Analysis

Preview:

It’s a Long Story: My Life is country singer Willie Nelson’s memoir. The book chronicles his life as a musician, songwriter, and social activist and delves into his turbulent personal life and internal emotional struggles.

On April 29, 1933 in Abbott, Texas, Willie Nelson was born to Ira and Myrle Nelson, a fiddler and singer respectively, two years after his sister, Bobbie. Willie’s parents divorced when Willie was six months old. They left he and Bobbie, or as Willie refers to her, Sister Bobbie, in the care of their grandparents, called Mama and Daddy Nelson. They raised Willie and his sister in a loving and supportive home surrounded by faith and music. This immersion into music at a young age inspired Willie and Bobbie to become musicians.

In 1939, Daddy Nelson passed away. This event caused Willie, at six, to experience his first bout of depression, what he referred to as the blues…

"It's a long story" in a nutshell By Richard and Liz The 10 page summary at the beginning of the book lets the reader into the life of country singer, Willie Nelson who was born in Texas in 1933. Raised by his grandparents, Willie was immersed in music from a young age. The death of his father when Willie was just 6 years old saw his "first bout of depression" which would continue to plague him at different periods throughout his life. Read of his struggles not only in his personal life but also in his music career. It appears that his life was plagued with failed relationships, drugs, alcohol, unpaid taxes etc.Following the summary is the "Main Characters" where we read a short bio on each. This is then followed by more detailed character analysis which is a wonderfully, informative section. What about the "Character Relationships" which is not just about family but business also? Learn about the main themes of the book which include "The Blues" which is not only talking about his music but also his emotions. Under the "Author's Style" we learn that the original book i.e. Willie Nelson's life story is written in a "simple, straightforward style" with honesty shining through.Important to note that this Instaread book is only a SUMMARY. (Think 'very detailed' review.) It is NOT the complete book. If you want to read the full details this may not be what you are looking for. However if you are wanting to just get the gist of the original then this may be just what you are looking for! It also may or may not be important to you to note that "this concise summary is unofficial and is not authorized, approved, licensed or endorsed by the original book's author or publisher."Book provided in exchange for honest review. Thanks, Liz

It has everything laid out in a simple to read format and a concise manner. This review has no fluff, but gets to the meat of the book and allows readers like me to feel involved in the themes of the book and adds the highlights of the narratives.Willie Nelson’s life was full of ups and downs, and absolutely fascinating. This memoir captures the inspiration of a musician and activist. The analysis of this book made me want to pick up a copy and read “It’s a Long Story” for myself. I especially enjoyed the analysis of the theme of “faith” which captured the duality of Willie’s Christian roots. Combined with the theme of “restlessness” this book, “It’s a Long Story” has a message for everyone. In short, I would recommend more reviews like this one because it helps students like me write essays and book reports. And stay on top of popular books.

After reading his biography, I was thoroughly enchanted by his life growing up and how he became the man he is today. I recently purchased this Summary and Analysis because I thought that it may further elucidate details that I missed while giving me a valuable primer on the book itself. After completing this book I can say that it did just that. From providing a dense and succinct breakdown of Mr. Nelson’s story to discussing the primary people in his life all the way to the visible themes that ran throughout, this companion piece perfectly summed up the book. I thoroughly enjoyed the professional writing in this material as well, providing insight on Willie’s writing, faith, and restlessness; something that intrigued my entirely. If anyone else is considering purchasing this book, I can happily say that it’s the perfect companion piece to his biography and a definite worthwhile purchase.

By Leaf I received this early from a preorder at Rightstuf. Review is also on Goodreads. Very slight spoilers. I just go a little more indepth than the synopsis does.DISCLAIMER:If you have triggers, please be careful with this volume. Chapter 107 is very controversial and I believe this was handled maturely, but it will make some people very uncomfortable. Nanami is not raped, but she does get assaulted by Kirihito, and it is very hard to read for the few panels that are presented.Nanami has been growing as a character, and as such, I was expecting something to test her greatly. This is one of the darkest volumes Kamisama Kiss has presented. That gorgeous cover I praised earlier before reading disguises a volume that has a very controversial chapter. It begins with Tomoe and Nanami going to school and both of them realizing that in order to become a part of society, your academic standing holds a lot of power of you. This is very true in Japanese culture. Nanami wants to go to her first and last school trip with her class and after Mikage demands that she score 80% on all her tests to go, she studies diligently. We get to see Tomoe's thoughts regarding Nanami which adds a lot to their relationship. And it looks like Ami x Kurama might happen :DThen the volume changes when Nanami leaves with her class. A storm is brewing and their flights are cancelled. When Ami is kidnapped by Unari, claiming that Kirihito has stolen the Robe of Feathers from her, Nanami must agree to return it lest Ami remain a prisoner.Kirihito's life is slipping and he needs to get his body back. With the Robe of Feathers he can do so, but he is dying. He asks that Nanami be taken to him. Only she can help preserve what little life he has left-but in doing so, Nanami will likely die. Nanami is not stupid. She would do what any person would given her situation. She is forced to help him, and from there, the controversial moment I mentioned happens. The way it was handled is to let the readers realize that Kirihito/Akura-Oh is NOT a good person. If you were a fan of him like I was, it finally is clear that he will never change. He is selfish, vain and a brat. And I can guarantee you that this pairing will never happen. I don't understand why fans assume that any forced kiss or something like that means love. That is sexual assault, and the author makes it clear to the reader that this is not something we should be praising in manga. So many shoujo glamorize assault as being love, but this series draws the line. Nanami is not just kissed here. I will not go into details, but if you still ship these two, I cannot agree with you.If he were to start changing his life, doing his best to right his wrongs, etc. then I could consider him in a positive light. In volume 7 we saw that he was dealing with a lot of turmoil and I was invested in him. But he shows his true colors too many times later on for me to root for him.I am so glad that this series is not glorifying harassment or trying to make d-bag guys out to be love interests. This is a great example of a shoujo series that does it right.

And I like seeing Tomoe being possessive of her, protective, but with a purpose now. They just make me happy. The first part of this volume, we get to see the group relaxed, back at school and home. Studying to pass a test in order to go on a school trip. And then they go on the school trip, and some problems happen. Kirihito shows back up, and he needs Nanami’s energy in order to survive. I don’t like the way he gets it from her, and the problems that causes for Tomoe. Then, because of him, Nanami’s human friend gets captured. I like the development this gives to Nanami’s human life, and that she has such a good friend she’d sacrifice for.I don’t like Kirihito at all, though, which makes me happy about the cliffhanger. Tomoe is gonna take care of business, ya’ll. I’m looking forward to that.A solid volume. I’m so excited with where this series is going, and it’s always a delight to have a new volume.[More of my reviews are available on my blog, Geeky Reading, to which there's a link on my profile.]

Their rewards are being able to go on the school trip to Okinawa. Mizuki, Nanami's snake shinshi guardian, also now gets to help out at her school. I get the feeling this will bring along some more hijinks. Later things turn dire. Nanami's friend, Ami, is kidnapped. Nanami has to make some dangerous bargains to retrieve her. Picking up more in action with Kirihito's return, and now I wonder if there will be a showdown between them? Leaves me wondering on the next volume.

Bucchianeri During the last ten years of his life, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832), the famous German author of "The Sorrows of Young Werther", "Egmont" and "Faust" became mentor to a young man named Johann Peter Eckermann who had decided to make writing his career. After a few years had passed, Eckermann began to compile his most memorable conversations with the great poet, scientist and statesman of Weimar, and asked for his blessing to publish them. According to Eckermann, Goethe approved of the plan and directed which conversations should be printed. Trusting the dates provided by Eckermann, the first two volumes appeared about three years after Goethe's death in 1835, and a third volume with additional conversations was published in 1848, which also featured various discussions Goethe had with an acquaintance named M. Soret. This edition by Adamant is a complete facsimile of the 1883 English translation by John Oxford printed by William Clowes and Sons and revised by George Bell and Sons. Hence, you will find in this one book all three volumes, including the short autobiography of Eckermann. The entries compiled from the third volume, and Soret's conversations, are clearly marked. This is an important book as Goethe did not publish his autobiography in one complete form -- this edition chronicles Goethe's last decade and reveals his personal opinions on many interesting subjects. Of importance, there are discussions with Eckermann and Soret featuring Goethe's hindsight views of his earlier endeavours, and also discussions of his work-in-progress concerning his later writings, such as the "Novella" and "Faust Part Two". In addition, the style of this compilation is quite charming to read with its nineteenth-century expressions, which helps to bring the reader back to Goethe's era, even the font-style is reproduced exactly as seen in the 1883 edition. The original select index is also included. According to Eckermann, contemporaries agreed the conversations were true-to-life representations of Goethe's personality and manner of speech. This book is a real time-capsule, a gem for Goethe devotees.E.A. Bucchianeri, author of ...

Instead he turned out to be a valuable assistent for the great Goethe in the famous man's last years. And provided the world with an insightful portrait of the famous multi-talent in his older days. And Goethe was certainly highly creative to the last, working intensely on the second part of "Faust" right up til his death. And his discussions with Eckermann throws important light on this somewhat condensed and obscure work of art.We also get insights into Goethes looks on art and nature. His relentless pursuit of beauty and depth and his firm belief that all forms of art was to serve the highest and most noble in humankind. Rather a far cry from todays aesthetics! And his equally firm belief in the spiritual basis for the nature that surrounds us. And maintaining that the scope of true science is to as far as possible uncover the Spirit which shows itself in nature, without ever reaching a full disclosure of the mystery. All in all Goethe comes across as a selfcomposed and friendly human being. Olympian yes, but not above and beyond a good dinner with a bottle of fine wine and some humorous conversation. Able to handle deaths of friends and family with dignity, and based in a natural and true spirituality. And occasionally getting very human, specially when somebody critizises his theory of colours. In many way this book can serve as a Western parallel to Mahendranath Gupta's "The Gospel Of Ramakrishna". An intelligent and keen observers loving portrait of the man who changed and enriched their life.

For Dr. Grete Bibring, a close friend of Anna Freud and herself a noted psychoanalyst, the dinner table was a place of order and civility in a brutal and harshly competitive world. In Vienna where she was raised, these dinners provided a sense of comfort and community in a city that was becoming increasingly hostile to Jews. In the U. S., they initially helped orient her to unfamiliar terrain. They were a comfort to others as well as to Grete. They nurtured bonds of friendship, loyalty, and collegiality in good times and in bad ones. They provided a continuity between past and present, a bridge between what Grete knew and what she had yet to learn. For 50 years (1927-1977), Grete Bibring kept notes on the dinner parties she gave, what she served and whom she invited. Her young dinner guests in Vienna were to become the world’s foremost analysts. She fled the Nazi occupied Vienna, along with the Freuds, only to endure the nightly bombings of London. Nevertheless, she continued her dinner parties there (more modest and fewer) – ones to which Melanie Klein and her followers were not invited. Arriving in Boston in 1940, she quickly became a revered teacher and was appointed first woman professor at HMS. Her entertainments change as she meets new colleagues and tries to adapt to American tastes. This new biography of Grete Bibring is accompanied by previously unpublished photographs of her and her colleagues, brief accounts of her guests’ lives, and 11 authentic recipes from her table. "This book offers a peerless opportunity to do exactly what the authors do: follow Grete Bibring from the 19th century world of Vienna to its reincarnation at the Window Shop on Brattle Street, using menus, recipes and guest lists to illuminate an extraordinary life." ~ Laura Shapiro, author of Perfection Salad: Women and Cooking at the Turn of the Century.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. TASTY READ By Dr. Harriet I. Basseches An imaginative approach to biography, this little gem is a must read for psychoanalysts and historians. While seemingly “light reading” about Grete Bibring’s life long penchant for entertaining, the biography invites the reader into the living rooms of Viennese intellectuals and the psychoanalysts surrounding Freud. This was the period during which Institutional life was forming around Freud at the same time as the rise of Nazi Germany. We learn about the perilous flight for many of this cohort of Jewish origin who escaped to England and eventually to the United States, particularly to the Boston area. Many of the founding luminaries of the psychoanalytic movement are featured as they are entertained by Grete Bibring. The biography, moreover, is truly a window into an amazing and talented woman psychiatrist/psychoanalyst whose strength of character, courage and humor are wonderful to discover. Her entertaining in good times and bad captures her capacity to focus on these civilities and ability to hold on to her values independently of how frightening or trying the circumstances. For this reviewer, it was a special treat to get to know something of this powerful woman’s world as a psychoanalyst and émigré. In closing, I would add that the recipes included represent classic Viennese cooking and baking – guaranteed delicious!Review by Dr. Harriet I. Basseches.

It describes the life of an eminent Viennese psychoanalyst and her journey through London to Boston, Massachusetts. And it does this through her own archival records of dinner parties Doctor Bibring gave during her life: who she invited and what she served. What a gift this little book is. We see Freud's circle in Vienna and what happened to each of them, and we also see a cultural history told through food, as Doctor Bibring adapts her menus from times of plenty in Vienna through persecution and hardship and to the different tastes and recipes of the Americans who are her guests in Boston. Wonderful photographs as well. Congratulations to the authors and to the Boston Pyschoanalytic Society and Institute for this innovative look at the life of a very courageous and gifted woman.- Kathleen SpivackUnspeakable Things, Alfred A. By missmickee/bookreview "Frozen Hell: The Memoirs of a USAF Security Defender in Minot AFB" authored by Patrick Thomas is a candid and humorous account of his USAF enlistment assignment at Minot AFB, ND. The military recruiters fail to mention the less than desirable places to be stationed-- Minot is one of those bases. Located in the plains and badlands of the Dakota's, with hot dry summers and severe -79 degrees below zero with the winter wind chill factor, there is was little to call home about. To his credit, Senior Airman Thomas took it all in stride. It is pretty creative the things the troupes do to fight the mind numbing boredom, staying awake, and combating stress while out on the isolated locations monitoring check points, control areas and towers, usually riding around in two man patrols. The shifts hours are long and grueling. It wasn't surprising Charlie Flight was like family, Thomas had a lot of great stories about the men he worked with, yet little to say about his wife Samantha and their daughter born while he was stationed at Minot. For recreation he and his buddies went hunting and fishing-- and of course there were plenty of drinking stories! In addition Thomas discussed some unusual happenings in the hangars and bizarre things that occurred with no logical explanation Not at all surprising, he chose not to reenlist, though he transferred to Law Enforcement (Military Police) which is usually considered better duty than Security Police. In 1975-76, 186 miles of West Minot AFB, in Northeastern Montana was Glasgow AFB. My young husband got orders there right out of Basic Training/Security Police Tech. School. For an Airman First Class getting newer spacious 3 bedroom base housing (built in 1963) was quite nice. The Northern Lights reflected from Alaska could been seen from the flight line on occasion. There were many similarities in my husband's experience compared to Patrick Thomas, also from military life in general in this highly recommended read. Many thanks and appreciation to the author for the e-ARC for the purpose of review.

Toates This is a fascinating piece of detective work by a clinical psychologist with an expertise in sex and in particular S and M, who analysed the endless repetition of certain words and ideas in Proust’s work. Charlayne Grenci probes below the surface of Proust’s writing to show the ever-present theme of sado-masochistic relationships. This seems so far to have evaded Proust biographers and scholars, except in so far as they detected the more obvious S and M themes, such as flogging. Charlayne argues that Proust should stand as the preeminent writer on sado-masochism of the 20th Century. Furthermore, the author argues, I think convincingly, that Proust’s works reveal his own sexual desires, hypersexuality and sexual ‘addiction’, which he might, or more likely might not, have been able to express in his actual behaviour. Proust might well have felt that his sexual deviations would remain hidden. He appears to have had a range of so-called ‘paraphilias’, deviations from the sexual norm. Charlayne presents evidence for Proust’s sexual impotence, surely a source of still more anxiety and frustration. Drugs and sex, even if the latter was only in his imagination and writing, were used to soothe the mental anguish of this outstandingly creative but physically and psychologically handicapped individual. A very good book, which should be on the reading list of every Proust scholar.Frederick Toates, author of ‘How Sexual Desire Works: The Enigmatic Urge’.

By Kent Halloran A detailed and thought provoking psychological examination of one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. Yet, in spite of the academic nature of this work, the author is able to convey her findings in language suitable for all interested readers. It is clear that Dr. Grenci has an in depth knowledge of her subject matter.

A memoir of my personal and professional life, it's all about the tragic effect that multiple suicides have on a family, and the inner redemptive powers that enable us to go on in the face of adversity. It's about my family of clients, too, and their stories. I have had several careers. First a pharmacist, I then went in to the remaindered book business for 25 years, followed by real estate development, finally finding my true passion as a financial advisor. All during this time, I had to deal with an overly intrusive mother-in-law--until she committed suicide, followed by my wife the next year, and lastly my youngest son. The life lessons learned from all of my years of experience and those of my clients has taught me much about the world and people. We must not be afraid to face life's challenges head on. Always look forward to a better day.

Eyre When I first read a description of the book, I was expecting a sad, heavy tale of family tragedy. This was not the case at all. It is a very honest account of a man, of formidable character and quiet resolve, who dealt with devastating challenges but managed to persevere and flourish. Because there is no self-pity or wallowing in pain (it's just beneath the surface), it allows you to process his story in a different way. His candor helps to remove the taboo of discussing mental illness. There are many charming anecdotes about his life and professions, that recall the early days of entrepreneurism, when your word stood for something.I found the book to be heartwarming and up-lifting. In business and in life, Harvey reveals himself to be a man of great integrity and a very big heart.

It models the mantra that Mr. Lazarus says he adopted when he started in the life insurance business: “Keep it simple and be honest.”There is no wasted motion here. The author tells us about his life primarily by describing a series of life experiences, including personal and business successes and failures woven around three family suicides – including those of his wife and youngest child. If there was ever a story that exemplifies the famous Vince Lombardi saying – “It does not matter how many times you get knocked down, but how many times you get up” – this is it.While the writing itself will not win a Pulitzer, the book is highly readable and hard to put down. Mr. Lazarus does not so much teach us new things as he helps us remember things we already knew and somehow forgot. It has been said that “through fire is the spirit forged,” and we have the clear sense that Mr. Lazarus has emerged from his trials with new strength of purpose and a deep capacity for understanding the pain of others. All in all, this an inspiring story, a quick and enjoyable read, and a perfect gift for friends and family.

Live life to its fullest By Linda McKenzie I know Harvey on a business level, but that statement is not exactly correct because anyone who knows him will attest that Uncle Harvey forms long lasting personal relationships with people he meets.Harvey has had more than his share of devastating losses and unbearable grief, yet he manages to persevere by keeping a positive attitude and moving forward with his life all the wiser and stronger. He has had some very interesting career choices over the years and I am truly convinced that he would be successful at anything he decided to do. His drive to succeed is unmatched!I want to thank Harvey for sharing his incredible story. It has taught me some valuable life lessons and reminds me to strive to live each day to its fullest, as no one really knows what the future holds for each and every one of us.

*****Get Your FREE BONUSES When You Download This Book!*****Murder mysteries, missing persons cases and cannibal killers are all things that will make you think of some of the most interesting true crime cases in our history. The cases I am going to present to you today in this book are not so much about divinity or superstition as they are about simply murder and butchery. They are the stories of some of the strangest and most gruesome killers, missing persons cases and cannibalism. Murder Mysteries: Over the years there have been several incidences which have left a big question mark in the pages of our history. In this book, we have compiled a list of the world’s most profound mysteries that have been befuddling us for years. Missing: We often see flyers like this everywhere-- but the thing is, their stories are almost predictable. It could be a hyperactive child that got lost, or may be it was an adult with a mental problem. An old person suffering from Alzheimer’s is also a common victim. But what if your loved one disappeared all of a sudden and you couldn't find a plausible explanation as to why it happened? They were perfectly well, in sound mind and in good physical condition-- but where did they go? Cannibalism: In the simplest of terms, cannibalism is eating the flesh of another human being. It does sound rather gruesome, doesn’t it? To eat another person is an unthinkable idea for most people, and yet, did you know that it is a practice that has existed from the time our ancestors were still nomadic hunter-gatherers?

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. not well written By S. Henson The cases in the stories are fascinating but this is not a very well written book. Odd syntax (possibly written by a non-native English speaker?) and hard to read overall.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. True crime:boxed set .... By Rita Total waste of time - can get as much or more information from Google ... Did not like this book at all. Was more like a very short synopsis of each person. I had thought there might be some insight into why these people did what they did, but there was none of that.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good book... creepy stories. By John Garner I found here the interesting story about The Colorado Cannibal: Alfred Griner known as Alferd Packer who was an American prospector who confessed to cannibalism during the winter of 1874. He and 5 other men attempted to travel through the high mountains of Colorado during the peak of a harsh winter. When only Alfred reached civilization, he claimed that the others had killed each other for food, and confessed to having lived off the flesh of his companions during his snowbound state and to having used it to survive his trek out of the mountains two months later. After his story was called into question, he hid from justice for 9 years before being tried and convicted of murder and sentenced to death. Packer won a retrial and was eventually sentenced to 40 years in prison for manslaughter. After his parole, Packer went to work as a guard at the Denver Post. He died in Deer Creek, in Jefferson County, Colorado, reputedly of "Senility - trouble & worry" at the age of 65It is amazing to know how many people is sick and do so many crazy things like this. But I really enjoy to read this kind of books. I would like to read specific details of these cases in the book, some stories are a bit terse, but in general a good book.
