About the Author RORY LANCE is an accomplished character actor with experience in both the musical and legitimate stage and numerous film and television projects throughout his career. In addition to his work as an actor, he has spent much of his career teaching and introducing young people to the joys and challenges of live theatre. He has directed over forty theatrical productions, including the first ever high school production of THE PRODUCERS which went on to receive seven awards from the NATIONAL YOUTH THEATRE. Rory's original solo adaptation of DEATH IN VENICE has been performed successfully at the 2012 United Solo Theatre Festival winning the Festival's prestigious award for Best Period Piece.

Losing one's mother at any age is difficult - but sometimes having the good fortune to have one's mother for 50+ years can make losing her that much harder. Rory's fact-ionalized memory of his mother's childhood is creative yet realistic - and his expression of his thoughts at the time of her passing hits home to many. His descriptive ode to NY in the beginning decades of the last century are well researched, vivid and enjoyable. Two remarkable photos show his mother's infectious smile and her devotion to her family. I'm sure Rory's mother is smiling now with pride and love.
