By M.Fields I have to say this is a touching, and moving read.If you love words you may enjoy this memoir it is different then most I have read a little dark but it will inspire you as well.You get to look into someone else's life and see that how we are raised and out childhood households shapes us into the adults we become.I gave this book 4 stars.I was given a copy of this book by the publisher for my honest review.

Page-Turner By MR Elliott writes with an honesty that enables readers to identify themselves in her story, and to connect to her experience of caring for aging parents, whether they've personally had this experience or not. The author demonstrates an insight into the dynamic of her family relationships that is reflective of someone who’s done their emotional “work”. She knows and understands herself, and in this way, models this journey for her readers.This is also a story of personal growth, and discovering what we’re made of in the midst of a crisis. While we all have moments in our lives we might look back on in regret, Elliott helps us see that at any given moment, we are doing the best that we can with the tools that we have at that time.Elliott leaves you wanting more of her story, but in a way that is also satisfying and feels complete. The flow of her writing and the compelling nature of the topic led me to finish it in a weekend.I highly recommend this book and it’s insight into one family’s journey into crisis and movement out of it.

Elliott paves a path for a new generation to cope with aging parents, especially in a medical age where the lives of loved ones can either be prolonged indefinitely despite crippling disabilities... or stolen quickly by ailments unconquerable. The book spares nothing and nobody in explaining the gravity of aging. In many ways, it provides a step-by-step manual for how to cope with loved ones in medical decline. But the most valuable thing in "Fallen Acres" is something even more important-- the author proves we inherit the best and the worst from the households that raised us... and somehow that stark humanity gives us an almost-magical ability to transcend our greatest hardships, even death itself, in a beautiful way. This memoir stands as of the darkest yet most inspiring things I have ever read.
